As you know, wooden pallets are extremely versatile and can be used for a variety of different projects. One of the most common uses for them is turning the pallets into a wine rack. It’s a very simple transformation, the type of project you can save for a free week-end. A variety of different designs and ideas are available and we incorporated some of them in this series of inspiring examples.
We’re going to start with this very interesting project representing a wine bar made of wooden pallets. The idea is very simple. Just take one or two pallets, depending on the dimensions of the table you decide to use as a base, and place them over the tablecloth. Store bottles inside and use the surface as a regular table.{found on thepoorsophisticate}.
This is another very practical pallet wine rack design. Cut off the bottom sections of the pallet, remove the top boards, cut through the middle boards and then cut a decorative edge. Sand down the pieces and screw the top boards back in. then make a holder for the glasses and put it at the bottom of the rack.{found on virginiasweetpea}.
In the case of this recycled pallet wine rack, the transformation is even simpler. The rack is very versatile and can also be used for storing and displaying magazines or something else. This one is burnt with a propane torch in order to add a more rustic touch to its design.{found on etsy}.
This is a more elaborate project that requires more than just one wooden pallet. The pallets were cut to size and then stacked one on top of the other to cover an entire wall. It’s a nice design idea for a wine cellar but also for a modern living or dining area.
For this design you don’t necessarily have to use a pallet. Given its dimensions, a few pieces of scrap wood would work just fine. The rack can hold three bottles of wine, placed at an angle and sitting horizontally for a more interesting visual display.
The transformation of a wooden pallet with the purpose of making it look like this doesn’t require much time or effort. You just need to put a board on the bottom portion and one at the top to hold the bottles and the glasses and you’re done. You can also stain or paint it.
This wine rack is also made from a wooden pallet. As you can see, it’s narrower than the majority of what we’ve presented so far. It’s a perfect example to show you exactly how versatile a pallet can be and how many variations you can create with it.
Such a wine rack can be made from a pallet and some extra plywood. The rack is 43’’ tall and it’s easy to place against a wall in the dining area, kitchen or any other space you find appropriate. However, it needs to be safely attached to the wall so don’t skip this part.
If you don’t have room for a wine rack on the counter or on the wall, then there’s another solution: hang it from the ceiling. This rack is made from pieces from a wooden pallet and it even has canals carved on the sides that allow you to store glasses.
This is another very easy to make wine rack. It looks like it’s made from what appears to be only one half of a pallet. It’s basically just to size and painted black. It’s rather tall so it needs to be anchored to the wall. You can also use it for other purposes.
This is a wooden pallet slightly adapted to create a wine rack. The planks were put closer together and then holes were made in each one. The rows are linear for better support and balance. You can make as many holes as you want and this will determine the number of bottles you can display.
When you make a wine rack from a wooden pallet, you have to decide how you’ll display it. This one, from example, has a table as a base. The counter space is used for display while the actual rack is both practical and good-looking, including a nice glass rack as well.{found on etsy}.
If you’d rather simplify the design of the pallet and make a little more modern, then it’s best to simply take apart the pallet and then come up with a whole new design. For example, this one is very simple but it’s also very practical.
This wine rack is also made from a wood pallet so it has an eco-friendly design. It has a nice brown finish and it can hold up to 9 standard size bottles and 8 glasses. Simply mount it on the wall in your home and enjoy this rustic yet simple and modern-looking design.{found on etsy}.
