Easter is almost knocking on our doors, so what do we do to prepare for its arrival? I know that the first thing that comes to my mind is food, lots of it. Food is a major component in any holiday, as well as traditions. But our homes don’t deserve a special treatment for holidays? I think they do, let’s take a look at some cool ideas to decorate your home for the upcoming Easter.
A modern approach to the Easter Egg.
On top of my favorite decorations ideas for this spring holiday is this wonderful and simple project but with a tremendous impact in the décor. The Easter tradition involves painting eggs usually red, but recently the modernism took over and therefore eggs are painted in various bright colors. Similar to eggs a great decoration idea for your home is to paint some round rocks in different sizes and colors.
This is a very simple process and you don’t really need to be crafty to do them. The positive impact on the surroundings will be guaranteed, the brightly colored rocks will create a wonderful focal point especially if their position favors nice contrasts.{found on Aubrey blog}.
Easter Yarn Egg Wreath.
The main idea when it comes to Easter decorations focuses on egg-like objects. This adorable yarn egg wreath is made from multiple colored “ eggs”. With a little imagination and some simple, cheap items you can do your own. First you will need a round piece of foam to be your starting base, then you will need at least 4 different colors of yarn and then some plastic ball, Ping-Pong balls should do it as well. The yarn arrangement as well as the “eggs” is only limited by your imagination. There is a great variety of possibilities to make this yarn egg wreath look great on your front door.{found on thesweetsurvival}.
Easter Grass Table Centerpiece.
Easter is as well a spring holiday and it would be pity not to bring inside our homes a fresh note with some season herbs. Since this project needs a little help from nature, you should get on starting right now. All you have to do I but a dollar worth of grass seeds and make a wonderful spring centerpiece for this Easter’s festivities. Nothing fancy, just some old wooden planters with fresh grass growing from them. This kind of decoration would definitely change the atmosphere from within your household, to a more relaxed one. It is amazing how a simple thing like this one can bring a tremendous amount of freshness inside. Not only the ambiance it’s going to be relaxed, but people as well, because this is the natural effect, that spring has on everybody.
Easter Green hydrangea wreath.
This decorative idea is basically a combination of two ideas presented earlier. Making a wreath from hydrangea is not that simple but looking at these step by step pictures along with my description, this can be a recipe for success. You will need to get started 10 hydrangea stems, a hot gun, wire cutters and a relatively small grape wreath. First you will need to cut off your every plant’s bloom leaving a stem of roughly 3 inches long, then push the stems into the wreath. After everything is in place and you like the finished product, use the hot glue gun to secure everything in place. Hanged by the front door this wonderful natural wreath will let people know that joy and happiness lives here.{found on vanessachristenson}.
Spring bunny pillow.
Deciding to make a spring bunny pillow around this time of year couldn’t be more welcomed. The Ester’s joy can also be transpose in your bedroom or on your living room couch. To make a pillow you will need some sewing skills to make the personalized cover and you will need something to stuff in as well. After deciding what fabric to use, draw and cut a simple bunny template then put as a background an image that will nicely expose the contour. Sew the pillow case on a sewing machine and then fill it up. The result will be both appreciated by kids and you, not to mention the playful note added to your interior. What a wonderful Easter project, especially that it can be done in a very short period of time and with some basic skills and materials.{found on tatertotsandjello}.
DIY bag paper Easter basket.
Since we all getting ready for Easter and food will be the word of order for at least 3 days, you will need something to splash a bit of originality over the entire preparations. This wonderful paper bag basked could be just the thing you are looking for. If you have an old grocery bag close by, why not transform it into a very nice original basket. Here’s how it can be done; you will need to cut the bag into strips, fold each strips into thirds, and then weave them. After that you should secure the corners with the hot glue, then fold the strips to form edges, then weave again until it looks like a basket, the secure the handles with hot glue, trim de ends and tuck up into a top stip. Your Easter paper basked is now ready to hold some Easter eggs or chocolate bunnies.{found on ellinee}.
Fabric Easter Basket.
As we can see Easter baskets are highly demanded in this period and all I can do is to show you more creative ideas to make such items. This one is similar to the one above but the material is different as is the technique. To make this original egg basket you will need some small tubing on which you will later wrap strips of colored and patterned material. After the entire length of the tubing is covered you will have to actually roll and sew the wrapped piping until the basket takes shape. The handle are made with in the same manner, just make sure to secure them very well to the basket so you won’t have surprises when trying to move your eggs or bunnies.{found on modabakeshop}.
Chalkboard Easter Eggs.
This next project approaches Easter and Easter decoration from the egg’s perspective. Instead of making a place for eggs or to somehow highlight them, this project proposes to transform the eggs into the actually decoration. As we know, eggs are an indispensable part of Easter, no matter if they are real, chocolate, painted or in any other way. This wonderful original idea focuses on taking the egg and paint it with some chalkboard paint, after that let it dry for a little bit. Then, with some real chalk write or draw anything you like on them. It will definitely surprise your guests and maybe even they will take part on a game that involves writing funny messages or names.{found on oleanderandpalm}.
Flowered Easter Basket.
So, do you think that we’re done with Easter Baskets? Think again! Cool ideas never stop from coming, especially for a project so common but in the same time unique and highly appreciated. Flowers are a traditional way of decorating on any special occasion, but given the fact that it’s spring and everything blossoms how can you not take advantage of the nature’s beauty? We are not going to use fresh flowers and leaves because in less than a day they will dry and fall off, but we will try to mimic natural flower arrangements on a woven basket with a nice handle. Hot glue the buds or leaves onto the basket and make sure that you have covered the entire surface, then place some nice silk or satin fabric inside the basket to cover the unattractive side and then place your eggs. Work done; all you have to do know is to enjoy your original Easter Egg Basket.{found on martha}.
Happy Easter Mantel.
Last, but not least, this project invokes the festive side of the Easter. Like in all special occasions decorations have to be accompanied by messages. If you have a mantel in your house over a fireplace or part of any other kind of design I’m going to show you a way to transform it in a playful element with fresh notes. As you can see in these pictures, you can cover the mantel’s top with plenty of faux grass, bringing inside the spring through its wonderful colors. Hanging a banner from it with will reinforce the original statement: spring is here, Easter is here. To animate a little bit the newly created focal point you can use suggestive plush toys or elements that will add a big smile on your face every time you look towards the entire ensemble.{found on crapivemade}.
These were all my suggestions for decoration on the upcoming holidays. I hope that whatever decoration idea you choose to follow to spice it up by adding your own personal touches. Happy Easter!
