Studio 128 in Poland: Small in Size, Big on Style
Studio 128 in Poland: Small in Size, Big on Style
Nov 7, 2024 7:45 AM

What draws many people to big cities is their energy, their diversity, their continuous drive for life. For those of you who have chosen to make your home in a metropolitan area, chances are you live in less square footage than those who live outside city limits. It’s worth the tradeoff for many, being close to things like shops and restaurants and the heart of the city, but living in a smaller apartment has its challenges as well. But less space doesn’t mean a sacrifice of great style.

Let’s look at Studio 128 in Poland. It’s a 34-square-meter (or about 300-square-foot) apartment that completely capitalizes on every square centimeter. And less space to work with simply translates into more attention paid on the details that matter most.

Probably the first thing we notice upon entering this tiny apartment are the mirrored walls, etched with trees. These walls reflect light and provide some visual artistic detail to the space, helping to brighten the room all around.

What we’ll come to find out is that those mirrored walls aren’t purely for aesthetics (No surprise here – there’s not enough floor space to waste), but rather they are the “bedroom” walls.

It’s a tight fit, but you’re not lacking anything in this bedroom – some reading lamps, soundproof walls for a better night’s sleep, and a comfortable bed.

A nature-inspired color palette of spring greens and organic browns soften the potentially cramped feeling of this small space and actually help to expand its size.

Smaller scaled mirrors are placed strategically throughout the design, like as the backs of cubbies on the entertainment wall, to add light. Cupboard doors are kept sleek and glossy to cut down on a cramped “busy” vibe.

Woven-looking pendant lights hang above the dining table, maintaining an organic textural continuity. Speaking of texture…check out that backsplash! We adore the wood grain cabinet fronts on the kitchen uppers.

The Lucite dining chairs and table legs pack a visually lightweight (and, therefore, perfectly proportionate) punch.

Finishing up our tour, the white bathroom continues the organic theme, with wood-grain cabinets and tiled floors. Notice the hand “holding” the soap and towel rack here? Details like this make a house of any size a home.

We appreciate the space-saving feature of a protruding sink with narrower vanity. And having the clothes washer and dryer included is a great use of space AND quite an urban luxury to have in-home laundry!{found on site}.
