By now you’re probably aware of how versatile and useful Mason jars are and of the many ways in which they can be repurposed. But not all Mason jars are the same. Apart from differences in size and shape, there are also differences in color. Some have a lovely blue tint and today we’ll show you how to get that look and how to use these jars in interior décor.
First let’s see how you can give your clear Mason jars a blue tint. You need the jars, turquoise glass paint (although any other color would work), glass paint thinner and a paint brush or a rag. Mix the paint and the thinner in a 1 to 3 ratio (three parts thinner and one part paint). You can adjust the ratio to your liking if needed.
Dip the rag in the diluted paint mixture and then make long strokes down the sides of the jar. Cover the entire body of the r and then wipe around t lip and base as well.
Put the jars upside down o a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and let them dry for 24 hours. Then put them in the preheated oven at 325 degrees for 40 minutes. Let them cool completely before you use them.{found on lovepomegranatehouse}.
Another possibility is to use the following materials: clear Mason jars, Martha Stewart’s Liquid Fill (Bright Sky or any other shade you like), alcohol and a plastic container. Prime the jar with alcohol and then put it inside a container so you don’t make a mess.
Let the paint drip all over the surface of the jar until it’s covered uniformly. Let it dry for an hour and apply a second coat. Then put it in the over for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.{found on ohsoverypretty}.
Now let’s see how you can use the lovely blue-tinted Mason jars you’ve just created. The ideas and possibilities are numerous. For example, you can make a hanging wall piece using these jars which you’ll be repurposing as vases and some wood slats or a pallet.
Or you can hang them in front of the window, sort of like hanging planters. Fill them with seasonal flowers and they’ll get a nice blueish glow as the light filters through during the day. A really nice idea for the kitchen.{found oneclecticallyvintage}.
A collection of blue-tinted Mason jars can be used to make a unique chandelier. You can either make something like this yourself or you can buy one online. Each piece is unique and different, handmade with reclaimed wood.{found on etsy}.
In the bathroom, you can use these tinted jars as more than decorations. For example, you can keep on on the sink and use it store the toothbrushes. In another you can store your makeup products and so on.{found on calviswyant}.
Another option is to use these beautiful jars as vases for a vintage or a rustic wedding. Fill them with flowers tied in bouquets and use them as centerpieces for the tables.{found on rusticweddingchic}.
A larger jar can be used for the bride and groom’s table. It can be placed at the center of the table, on a slice of wood, decorated with colorful and romantic flowers. It would match nicely with a burlap table runner.
You can also put candles inside blue-tinted Mason jars. They’ll look really lovely and romantic. Pair them with fresh flowers which you can use as decorations for the whole centerpiece arrangement.
At a wedding, there’s another interesting way in which Mason jars can be used. You can put photos in each jar. They can represent the ride and groom when they were younger or they can be photos of the guests if you want to personalize them even more.{found on etsy}.
