I love the look of having a plant in a basket. Adding some pom-poms to that basket just makes it all the more fun! I’ll definitely be making another one of these baskets to plant a big plant into! Keep on reading below to find out how to make this simple pom-pom basket do it yourself!

Materials:

How to make a pom-pom basket:

Start by making some simple pom-poms for your basket. To do this grab your fork and wrap your yarn around it about 15-30 times. The number of times you wrap around your fork makes your pom-pom thicker and fuller. However, if your yarn is thick I would suggest wrapping it around the fork less. Also, the larger your fork face the bigger your pom-pom will be, so if you want a large pom-pom opt for a bigger fork.

Once you have wrapped your yarn around the fork the desired amount of times, carefully pull the yarn ball off the fork. Take another piece of yarn and tie it tightly around the center of the yarn ball.

Taking your scissors cut the loops of the yarn in half. Do this on both sides of the ball. Careful not to play around with your pom-pom too much as they can break. I just cleaned up any particularly long pieces and left it as it was.

Note: if you want pom-poms with different colors you can wrap two different colored yarns around your fork.

Once you have made several pom-poms, grab your glue gun and dab a small bit of glue onto the center of the pom-pom. Quickly stick it onto your basket. Repeat this process until your whole basket is covered.
