I’ll admit it, I’ve caught a bit of spring fever. It should come as no surprise, really, as it happens every March for me as the snow starts to melt (finally!) and a green stem or two begins to peek its way out of the soil. If you’re like me, you might not want to let Mother Nature have all the spring decorating fun! So here are some, five to be exact, ideas for fast and easy DIY front door decorations that say: “Bring on the Spring!”
Nothing says spring like the color green, especially when it’s in nature-inspired form. This door decoration could really not be more easy to create. Simply grab an old wreath (grapevine, styrofoam, whatever you have on-hand), some spanish moss (which can be purchased at a craft supply store), and a hot glue gun, and you’re in business. Hang with a ribbon, like this one, or a simple hook. I like the modern feel of this wreath, as it requires no extraneous adornments to exude the look and feel of springtime.{found on lifeelove}.
For a country, shabby chic look, this front door decoration is both customizable and super simple…a DIY win-win, if you ask me. Take an old picture frame and paint and distress it to your taste. Then grab an old wooden letter (or, if you don’t have one on-hand, you can pick one up at your local craft supply store), glue on some sheet moss (available at dollar stores or, again, craft supply stores), and hang ’em up together. I like the letter slightly off-center here, for an artistic touch.{found on littlemisspennywenny}.
For the ultimate simplist, this no-fuss springtime door décor is a match made in heaven. The actual DIY activity is kept to a world record minimum, because all that’s required for this hanging spring bouquet is for you to pick out the flowers you want to display. Throw them into a half-basket and hang from the door hook. Viola and the end…and isn’t the result so cheerful?{found on apopofpretty}.
Moving on from the door itself brings us to the front door mat, the perfect place to showcase personality and color at your front door. While this simple DIY welcome mat requires perhaps a little more effort than the other door decorations (no surprise there; it’s hard to beat the ease of flowers-in-a-basket!), the end result is bright, cheerful, and engaging. I particularly like the contemporary grid of this one paired with a rainbow of colors…and the fact that, if a rainbow of colors isn’t your thing, it’s completely customizable to any color and size you want.
Flanking the front door or merely added on the side, these mini topiaries will add a definitive touch of springtime green to your front door “welcome brigade.” And they’re easy, to boot! A styrofoam ball covered in dollar store greenery, a painted dowel for the trunk, and floral foam in a bucket covered with spanish moss – you’ve got yourself a topiary! Make one or make 10, these look great alone or in a crowd. Distress the pots or buckets that the topiaries are in to add a shabby chic factor.{found on alderberryhill}.
