Our New Obsession – Hanging Fruit Baskets

We love the idea of using fruits and vegetables as decorations. They’re such a fresh way of adding color to the kitchen plus, it’s also a way to encourage everyone to eat healthy and have a delicious fruit for dessert or as a snack. We also found the perfect way to display them: in hanging fruit baskets.

Use a metal basket and an antique hanging scale like grandma used to have if you want a little bit of rustic beauty in your kitchen. You can use rope and a hook to hang the fruit basket from the ceiling anywhere you want.

Here’s another hanging basket that’s super easy to make as well as very versatile. To make it, you need jute, leather, a metal loop and a hot glue gun. First, start forming a tight jute circle and use the sewing machine for this part. Then cut 3 strips of leather and attach them to the jute circle. Take three long strips of jute, run them through the leather loops and then through the metal loop.{found on poppytalk}.

Or you could try this design. You need two metal baskets, some chain, s hooks, a swivel hook and a drywall hanger. First stick the hanger into the ceiling. Attach 4 s hooks on the top of one of the baskets and loop pieces of chain around each one. Bring them together and secure in place. Then attach chain to the second basket and hang the remaining hooks on the bottom of the first basket.{found on recreativeworks}.

You can customize your hanging baskets however you want. You can have sets of two or even three but make sure the ceiling hook can hold all the weight. Find the perfect place for hanging the fruit basket, maybe above the kitchen counter for example.

Another possibility is to hang the baskets in front of a window so the fruits and veggies get plenty of light and stay healthy for a long time. You can adapt the idea to your own kitchen and hang the baskets from the underside of your wall-mounted cabinets.

This is another way to provide natural light to the fruits by hanging a tier of three baskets as close to the window as possible.

Or you can hang a fruit basket form the underside of an open shelf. It would be less permanent than hanging it from the ceiling and also a lot easier.

If your kitchen has exposed wooden beams, you can use one of those to hang your delicious fruit basket. Maybe you can go even further and install a system that lets you slide the basket along the beam.{found ongindesigns}.

Make a cozy hammock for your fruits and hang it from a wooden rod like the one used for paper towels. In fact, you could hang paper towels on top and fruit on the bottom. What a great combo!

Instead of using baskets, you could display veggies and fruits in old kitchen bowls or pots. Use rope or string to weave a simple web-like structure to hold the “baskets”. You can also add colored beads to make it more fun.

Or, if you want something a bit more sophisticated, try to make some of these hanging wire pods. You can also try to find them in stores. They’re simple and would look really nice in both modern and rustic kitchens.Available on Etsy.

You can customize these pods in numerous different ways. For example, put some burlap inside or decorate the pods with whatever else you prefer.

This is a rather odd design but not any less interesting. The hanging basket actually has a flat base and the fruits are displayed like on a platter.

Shiny on the inside and textured on the outside, these tiered hanging fruit baskets are handmade and can be customized with your favorite glaze color. They feature a combination of porcelain and leather and you can find them on etsy.

Don’t want to make a hole in the ceiling? Than how about mounting your fruit baskets on the wall? A whole new range of design possibilities just opened. For example, use chalkboard paint on the wall so you can label the contents of each basket.{found on allthatbringsjoy}.

Or use a rail-based organizer and customize it with containers and baskets of all shapes and sizes to store and organize your fruits on the kitchen wall.

And if you take healthy snacks and deserts seriously, then you’ll need something bigger. You can dedicate a small wall or part of all to vertical storage and you can hang multiple wire baskets.

Put labels on your wall-mounted fruit baskets if you want every little detail to be just right, although if the baskets are see-through you won’t need this feature.{found on thegoldensycamore}.

Instead of baskets you could opt for buckets. They’d look interesting if you mount them on a wall sideways. You can even paint them each a different color.

This type of wall-mounted baskets is really practical. You can easily hang them in the kitchen or pantry and use them to store both fruits and vegetables.
