These no-sew Thanksgiving placemats and table runner are bursting with fall colors and are incredibly easy to make. It’s one of those crafts that is simple enough that you don’t have to worry about any Pinterest fails here. Plus, it’s a good one to sit in front of your favorite TV show and just mindlessly cut out a bunch of leaves. Those are my favorite crafts – simple and can be done on the couch!
When it comes to holiday decorations, the simpler the better because you don’t need any added stress to cooking up a Thanksgiving feast. This Thanksgiving table runner will highlight said feast and show off your crafting skills at the same time. Now that’s a win-win. Go grab your glue gun and some felt and start making a Thanksgiving table runner and placemats!
Felt in various colorsWhite fabric (or whatever color you want)Glue gunLeaf stencil
Start by finding an image of a leaf that you like to create your stencil. Print and cut it out then lay it on your felt and trace around the leaf. Cut out the felt leaf. Repeat until you have a good, thick stack of leaves (about 30ish).
For the placemats follow the same instructions but with a smaller leaf stencil. You will need fewer felt leaves for the placemats.
Layout your fabric on your dining table to measure how big you will want it to be. Trim down to size. Same goes for the placemats.
Take your glue gun and glue the edges of the table runner and placemats to the back to get rid of any fraying fabric. You can also using a needle and thread or sewing machine to do this.
Lay your felt leaves out on top of the table runner and placemats in whatever pattern you want. For the table runner we started with a lot of leaves in the center and then brought them up to the edges and thinned them out a bit. For the placemats we put several leaves in the four corners. Feel free to play around with the placing of the leaves.
Once you know where you want to put your leaves, take your glue gun and dab a bit of glue underneath a leaf and then press it back down onto the table runner or placemat. Repeat with all leaves.
There you have it – the simplest no-sew Thanksgiving table runner and placemats. Now all you have to do is add food and you are all set for Thanksgiving!
