Well-known for their preference for bold shapes and geometric forms, the Geometrix Design team was also the one responsible for the interior of this apartment located in Moscow, Russia. The studio is only formed of two interior decorators but this doesn’t limit their creativity or passion by any means. In fact, their projects never cease to impress with their originality.
The designers’ experience of over 13 years (8 as a team) has allowed them to create their own unique and distinctive style which they also try to transfer into each project. This 1,260 square foot (approx. 117 square meters) apartment in Moscow is one of the studio’s many impressive works of art (their projects also include offices, bars, restaurants, cafes, lofts and penthouses).
They called this project the Neon Apartment because of the multitude of neon accent lights used throughout the space. This type of accent lighting was used in a variety of ways throughout the apartment. For instance, when the ceiling in the living area lights up, this highlights the unique texture of the unfinished concrete.
The kitchen island doubles as a bar when it too lights up, revealing a soft shade of lilac which matches that on the ceiling. The white bar and bar stools welcome this touch of color which wraps around their eye-catching but minimalist design and also creates an intimate and pleasant mood.
In the living area, neon lights were used in the form of wall décor. Geometric forms are highlighted by the lights, reinforcing the apartment’s uniqueness and vibrant character. As you can see, all neon lights, regardless of their position in the apartment, complement the overall white décor.
There are also other sources of color in the apartment. For example, the living area features accent chairs and loungers which introduce shades of yellow and red into the décor. These warm colors complement the black and white space.
There’s also a very harmonious dialogue between elements such as the exposed concrete ceiling, the industrial light fixtures and the black and white combo which tend to make the space feel cold and austere and details such as the cheerful yellow chairs, the touch of red and the warm texture of the wooden floor which allow this man cave to feel inviting and comfortable.
In the bedroom, the neon accent lights become red, adding a romantic and, at the same time, dramatic touch to the black, white and gray décor. A very chic accent chair placed in the corner of the room stands out thanks to its sleek conical shape and delicate curves.
A cluster of pendant lamps hanging by the bed offer soft and warm light which contrasts with the red neon light and highlights the texture on the wall. A large wall mirror makes this whole room appear bigger.
The same combination of black and white complemented by red accent light and large mirrors can be found in the bathroom.
This man cave also has a home theater space and, as you might have guessed, neon lights give this area a dramatic and theatrical vibe. The focal point of the space is a wall covered in posters of actors and movies.
