Some remodels are easy and some are extremely challenging. We’re usually drawn to drastic renovations and spectacular transformations, projects which involve tearing down walls and building extensions. Today, however, we found a rather different project that we’d like to show you. It’s an apartment located in Sao Paulo, Brazil which measures 100 square meters and was renovated by Diego Revollo Arquitetura in 2016. This is actually a loft and the remodel was pretty easy considering that there were no superfluous walls and no structural changes to be made.
The overall interior design of the loft is eclectic, combining modern and industrial elementsThe open kitchen, dining space and living room form a social area on the main floorA simple staircase set against one of the walls connects the social area to the more private spaces on the mezzanineEven though the apartment has a strong masculine vibe, it also looks and feels very welcomingThe dark gray on the walls and some of the furniture is complemented by the warm wooden floors
But what is a loft without a mezzanine…Luckily this apartment already had one and the architects took advantage of that. They invested in elegant finishes and prioritized materials and functionality. The apartment features gray burnt cement walls and ceilings which give it a masculine allure and look nice in combination with the exposed pipes and brick pattern. To balance the decor, the architects introduced wood flooring throughout the spaces, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance.
The living area has a double-height ceiling which gives it a very airy appearanceThe dining space is set between the living room and kitchen, at the center of the floor planThe blue hues on the living room area rug are in tone with the overall masculine vibeThe mezzanine bedroom enjoys an open and airy look in spite of its reduced overall sizeThe bathroom has the same charcoal gray walls as the social area and it looks exquisiteThe mezzanine houses the private spaces, featuring a workspace/ lounge open to the social area downstairsThe bedroom has a large walk-in closet/ dressing room with plenty of storage spaceOverall, this loft apartment is warm and welcoming but at the same time has a masculine look and the styles are perfectly balancedThe bathroom is all gray with black fixtures and matching accessories. This gives it a super cool lookThe exposed metal pipes put an emphasis on the industrial characteristics of the loft’s designThe living room entertainment center looks very open and lightweight, allowing the background wall to remain visible
