This home in Taiwan is the very definition of what a simple, pure and zen home should look like. It’s a space designed by Wei Yi International Design Associates. It spread across 270 square meters of space and the design was completed in 2016. It’s a very pure and simple home, very low-profile but at the same time very stylish as well.
This is a home with a strong zen feel, very relaxing and very pleasant overallGray was selected as the main color for the interior of this beautiful Taiwan home
The trick here was to find the ideal balance between cool and warm colors, raw and polished finishes and all the different textures used throughout. Gray is the main color chosen for all the spaces. It creates a neutral backdrop which highlights all the accent colors and the finishes that stand out by contrast. The surfaces are imperfect and irregular and that’s what makes this such an authentic and exquisite decor.
Gray is a cool tone and this characteristic is further emphasized by the choice of materialsBlue was chosen as an accent color from three options which also included red and yellowThe cold nature of the gray and all the concrete is balanced out by the occasional red accents or warm light
The focus throughout this project was spirituality rather than materiality hence the simplicity that defines everything, the austere design and also the lack of embellishments and unnecessary features. Of course, this isn’t synonym with a total lack of interest regarding style and beauty. The architects made sure to impregnate a quiet elegance in all the spaces.
Large windows go all the way down to the floor in the living area, exposing the room to the viewThe walls don’t have a perfectly smooth surface or texture and this is an intentional detailThere’s this very beautiful artisanal character that the blue-colored walls have which we love
A choice was made between three accent colors, all with a royal flavor: yellow, red and blue. The winner was blue and the reasons included the fact that the other two are more popular and thus more common and less special but also the fact that blue is more relaxing and goes well with gray. It became the color used on the accent wall in the dining area as well as on this corridor. As you can see, the walls have a distinctive finish with an artisanal character, a detail that supports the design direction chosen for this project.
Although the colors are cool and neutral, the ambiance in the bedroom is a warm and welcoming onePolished concrete flooring sets a cohesive decor throughout, establishing a distinctive look
Exposed concrete walls, polished concrete floors, gray furniture, gray-black veneer and low-brightness colors are just some of the characteristics that work together to turn this space into a quiet, relaxing and serene sanctuary.
Gray is also the main and actually color used in the bathroom, except for the wood on the vanityClear glass panels divide the tub and shower area from the rest of the bathroom
