Glass bottles are meant to be reused and there’s an infinity of ways in which that can be done which is why we chose to only focus on wine bottle crafts for now. Today we’ll show how you can repurpose old glass bottles into unique decorations and accessories for your home. For a lot of these projects you’ll need a bottle cutter which is actually a pretty handy tool to have around for when you get creative. With this, you can turn bottles into vases in no time. We also have a lot of cool and inspiring ideas that you can do without altering the structure or form of the bottle in any way. But enough with the spoilers. Let’s get down to it.

First, we’ll show you how to cut glass bottles, in case you’ll need to do this as part of a project that you like. The first step is to remove the label off the bottle using warm water, dish soap and a rough sponge. Then let the bottle dry completely. Decide where you want the cut to be, adjust the glass cutter and roll the bottle on the blade, scoring a line all the way around it. Put the bottle into a pot of boiling water and keep it there for about 30 seconds. Remove the bottle and drip some cool water on the scored area. This should help the glass break. After that, take some sandpaper and smooth down the edge.

Using chalkboard paint, you can give a simple glass bottle a permanent label so you can use it later as a custom container or as a vase. Our video tutorial suggests to first paint the whole bottle in a color that you like but you could skip this step if you wish to leave parts of the glass exposed. The important thing is to then tape off an area and to paint it with a few coats of chalkboard paint. Let it dry, remove the tape and customize the label with a message.

If you want you can combine several glass bottles into a chic centerpiece. For that, you’d have to fashion a wooden holder. You can do that using four small pieces of wood. You’ll have to assemble them into a frame and to make some holes in the top section so the necks of the bottles can fit through. Use glue to secure the wood pieces and then paint or stain the frame. When the paint is dry, you can add the bottles. Now you have a beautiful bottle centerpiece which you can further customize however you want.

You can do a lot of cool things using recycled glass bottles, including some cute containers for homemade candles which you can then offer as gifts or display around your home. This is all really easy. You basically just have to score the bottles with a cutter and then to safely break the glass along that line. You can do this at home using a water bath technique. When the bottles are cut, smooth down the edges with sandpaper and then fill the containers with wax and wicks. We found this project on Lovelygreens.

If you have the time, you could do a little bit of research on how to tie knots to make beautiful macrame projects so you can then use that knowledge to decorate some empty glass bottles. You won’t need much for this project: just some twine, mod podge, a glue gun, corks and something to put in the bottles once you’re done, like flowers, sand or whatever else you have in mind. If you can find a few small glass bottles by any chance, you could tie them in a bunch to make a cute cluster of tiny vases. It’s an idea that we got from Neuerstoff. It’s all very simple. First, clean the bottles and remove their labels. Then arrange five of them into a flower-shaped cluster and wrap some leather cord around them. To make the ensemble more sturdy, you could put a dab on glue on the bottles and secure them together.

Turning vine bottles into table centerpieces is one of the easiest things you can do. You can simply get rid of the labels and put some flowers in the bottle and call it a vase or you can spend some extra time decorating the bottle so truly make it look like a beautiful centerpiece. One of the options is to spray paint the bottle once you’ve got rid of the label and the adhesive. Coat in three even layers of paint (that’s usually what it takes to get a solid color). Then, if you want, you can use chalk or a chalk marker to write a number of each centerpiece. {found on inspiredbythis}.

Don’t these hanging vases look great? As you can see, they’re nothing more than recycled glass bottles which means you could do something just as beautiful for your own home. Start by cleaning the bottles (you’ll need three in total). Then take some rope and a hot glue gun and tie a knot around the neck of one of the bottles, securing it in place with glue. Then continue wrapping the rope around the neck and adding glue until you’ve got a nice and secure set of loops. After that, you can do the same thing for the second and third bottles, leaving a bit of rope in between them so they can then hang from each other. Find out more about this on ohohblog.

Starting at the top of the bottle, put a dab of hot glue on the rim and then wrap twine around the bottle, adding more glue as you cover more surface. Continue until you reach the bottom. Secure the end of the jute to the bottle with glue. Then use ribbon to tie a cute little bow around the bottle or make two more vases and tie them all together in a cluster.

Then, little by little, it was transformed into this cool container. The process involved frosted glass paint in turquoise and white and a cosmetic sponge. If you want to make something similar, start at the bottom of the glass and lightly apply turquoise paint with the sponge. Then gradually mix it with some white paint as you advance towards the top.

Don’t these coastal-themed bottle centerpieces look exquisite? We love how chic and stylish they are so we’ll show you how to make something similar for yourself. You’ll need glass bottles of various sizes, glass paint, a glue gun, dowel rods, shells and coral and some twine. Fist, clean and then paint the bottles by pouring some paint in and then swirling it around. While they dry (this should take a day or two) paint the lid of the bottle and glue a piece of coral to it. For the bottles that have corks instead of lids, make a hole in the cork, glue a piece of a dowel to a shell and then insert the visible dowel piece into the cork, gluing it in place.

All the bottles were then coated with clear polyurethane spray to preserve the frosty paint. The basket was decorated with burlap ribbon.
