One of the biggest challenges that you have to overcome when you’re decorating a space is finding a way to integrate the corners into the whole design. The corners often remain empty and it’s just a big waste of space. There are lots of ways in which they can be efficiently decorated. Here are a few ideas.
A series of small shelves placed in the corner of a room can be a nice display area as well as a very practical element.
Furniture can also be placed in the corner, if the décor and space allow you to. This writing desk has a perfect placement, close to the windows on both sides.
Another great idea is to create a reading corner in one of the empty corners of your home. Find one with plenty of light and all you’ll need is a pouf and a lamp.
The corner of a room is actually a very nice place for a TV because it allows you to see it from at least two angles.
The fireplace can also be a nice element with which you can occupy an empty corner in the room. It will make the room seem cozier without using valuable floor space.
This is a very nice example of a corner library. Notice how the corner was used practically and how the shelves complement each other perfectly.
In a room such as the living room a very nice idea would be to have a corner bench. All you have to do is find one with the right shape.
A great way of using all the space creatively and practically is to have a corner cabinet which you can use for storage as well as for displaying items.
In the playroom, you could use a corner as a space for a tent. Kids love tents and the corner is a perfect place for one because it doesn’t take up valuable floor space.
Also in the playroom you could have the corner transformed into something similar to a cozy sanctuary with curtains, a place the kids can use as a stage for example.
We’ve already mentioned that a corner is a nice place for a TV so here’s another example. In this case, the TV is placed on a simple stand.
Plants, especially large ones, are very nice decorative elements in every room; however, they occupy a lot of space and it’s why the corners are perfect for them.
If your bed is placed in a corner, then you should have a double headboard. It’s practical and quite symmetrical looking.
A corner is also a nice place for a lamp and the lamp would stand out more if it were oversized.
Whenever you have a space that remains empty in your house and none of the solutions presented above work for you, try instead to use wall art.
