It shocks me each year how quickly Christmas comes and then how it disappears into the past just as fast! The whole season is about preparing so much for just one day which can sometimes seems like a waste of time.
So to stop myself becoming the worlds biggest Scrooge I like to make winter decorations that are festive but can be utilised well into the new year. Think Alternative Christmas Garlands or Felted Star Garlands. Both are very seasonal but will work to decorate all year round! Just think, next year you won’t have to put as many decorations up, They’ll already be there!
The other great thing I love about this tutorial is the lack of mess involved with transferring the print onto the pillow. I’ve used iron-on transfer paper to create the trees. You can print out this template onto the paper to use this design. No fuss, quick and clean festive tree design in minutes! Perfect for when you still have all those presents to wrap up!

Print out you template onto the transfer paper. Be careful to get the print on the right side of the paper. As you can see below my printer was a little light on the ink, but I really liked the effect to don’t worry if you’re running low on any color.
Cut out the trees until you have all the individual triangles ready to arrange over the pillow. Place them face down randomly over the front of your cushion.
Cover with a piece of cotton fabric and press a hot, steaming iron over the pillow for several second at a time. Take your time on this step. Keep checking the transfer paper to see if the design has fully adhered to the cushion fabric. If the backing paper does not peel back easily heat for a little longer.
Scatter amongst your pillows to add accents of seasonal joy around your home. And who wouldn’t want to keep that going into the new year?
