Forget spring cleaning, it’s time for some holiday sprucing! With Christmas and the New year quickly approaching, it’s time to get our house in tip top shape for family, friends and Santa Claus. Obviously you’ll need to do some dusting and vacuuming but what else can you do to give your house a quick refinement before all the festivities? Turn on some Christmas music and make yourself a list from some of our ideas that can spruce up your home in not time!

1. Clean the carpets and polish the floors.

Rent a carpet cleaner and go to town. Get rid of the stains from the kid’s cleats and give the carpet a pristine, fresh look. And if you have hardwood floors, take the time to polish them up really good. It’s easy to neglect the floors besides a quick vacuuming. But, you’ll be surprised how quickly a clean and pristine floor can make a difference to every room.

2. A fresh coat of paint.

Whether in the hallway, kitchen or the foyer, now is as good a time as any to do a quick repaint. Lots of people like to paint during the spring and summer, but why not do it before you have the entire gang over for dinner? Grab a lovely can of paint and get to work. A powdery blue, silvery gray, a crisp white or a key lime green are colors that look great year-round and give any space a quick and easy refreshment.

3. New furniture.

Whether it’s a new living room set or shiny new dining room table to fit the newly “in-lawed” family, it’s time for an early Christmas present. Don’t wait til Christmas morning to receive something new for the house. Get it early and impress your guests with your home’s new stylish accessories.

4. Decorate the outdoors.

Show your holiday cheer to everyone in town! The biggest part of sprucing up your house for the holidays is paying attention to the outdoors too. You don’t want a barren front yard, especially since all the greenery is gone in the wintertime! Twinkle lights, beautiful wreaths and even a blow up Santa can make your house the cheeriest on the block.

5. Use a bit of Christmas in every room.

Use Christmas hand towels in the guest bathroom and sparkly place mats in the kitchen. Dress up the mantle with stockings and pretty statutes of Santa. Place fun wreaths on the entry doors and put twinkle lights on the banister. Decorate the tree and place presents underneath. Light holiday-scented candles and fluff the Christmas throw pillows on the couch. Try and put a little pieces of the most wonderful time of the year everywhere you can.
