Planning a new home décor doesn’t have to be an expensive mission. Actually, no project needs to be expensive. The first thing you should do is look around the house and try to find ways to use the things you already have. You’d be surprised how many forms creativity can take.
If you have open shelves in your home, put them to good use. In the kitchen, fill them with cups, plates, bowls, vases, spice jars, etc. figure out how these shelves can become a beautiful part of the room’s décor, maybe even a focal point.
Bookshelves are not just for displaying books. You can treat them as open shelves on which to display your collections, a vase or two, a few small sculptures, precious gifts and other things.
The coffee table doesn’t have to stay empty. In fact, it will look more interesting if there’s something displayed on it, whether it’s a book a vase, a candle or anything else you want to turn into a focal point for that particular area.
It can be interesting to adopt a symmetrical look for one of the rooms. It’s easier to do that in the case of the bedroom. The bed can be the main piece, with two identical nightstands and matching table lamps. The chandelier or pendant lamp will be at the center of the room.
Using outdoor furniture inside the house is a bit unusual and unexpected but not totally unheard of. In fact, it can be a refreshing approach. You can use rattan chairs in the family room. They’re really comfortable and help create a casual ambiance.
Turn one of the walls in the living room, bedroom or hallway into a gallery and display framed photos, artwork and other things. Use the same type of frames but of different shapes and sizes.
Mason jars are extremely versatile and they’re perfect to use as storage containers for your silverware. Decorate the jars with lace or ribbon to give them a more refined and customized look.
Framed photos, posters and other things look natural like that but there’s no need for frames when you can use clothes hangers to display them. You can use this technique on pretty much anything, even mirrors.
Don’t hide your beautiful necklaces in drawers and boxes. Display them in your home and turn them into great accessories. The way you do this is up to you. There are plenty of ways in which you can improvise.
There was a time when decorating the walls with plates was really popular. That time may have passed but you can still revive the trend. Put together a collection of decorative plates you may already have in the house.
