Rope is one of those things that’s just tempting to buy only to have for potential future projects. If you feel the same way you might already have most of the supplies needed for this farmhouse project.
If not, go ahead and gather them and let’s get ready to make a beautiful farmhouse-inspired picture frame. It’s a nice project to do for yourself or as a gift.

There’s really no prep work to be done for this project so let’s get straight into it. The very first thing you need to do is take one end of the rope and glue it onto the edge of the frame. Start from a corner so you get a nice and clean line around the frame.
Without cutting the rope, once you’ve completed a ring around the edge you can transition onto the front of the frame. You’ll start in the same corner as before. Apply a thin line of hot glue, then press the rope onto it just below the edge so the rope lines up and there’s no empty spaces in between the rows.
Continue on the other three sides and add more rows of rope until you cover the whole surface. When you reach the final bit cut off the excess rope and secure the end onto the frame with more hot glue.
Use a bit more rope to make two small coils. Just coil the rope around itself a few times and make a sort of half-sphere shape. It doesn’t need to be perfect. Cut off the excess rope and glue the end onto the back of the coil but try to keep the back fairly flat overall.
Now is when the pink acrylic paint gets to be used. All you need to do is paint the two small rope coils pink using your paint brush. You might want to put on some gloves for this part to avoid getting paint on your hands and nails. Once you’re done, set the coils aside and let the paint dry.
You only need a bit of silk ribbon for this project, just enough to make a cute bow out of it. Perhaps you have some leftover ribbon from other projects that you can use. We chose a nice shade of pink that matches the little rope coils we made earlier. If you haven’t make a ribbon bow before, check out the steps below to see how it’s done.
Now we’re starting to add the little details that will make this rope-wrapped picture frame stand out. The first one is the little ribbon bow we made earlier. Put a little dab of hot glue onto the back just at the center of the bow then gently position it onto the frame in the top right corner.
Take your hot glue gun and put a ring of glue onto the bottom of the rope coils, then position them onto the frame in the bottom left corner and press gently. We made to coils so we positioned them sort of at an angle in the corner.
The last detail that you need to add is a few small beads. The ones we used look like little pearls and we glue them onto the frame sort of on the left and bottom sides of the frame. This adds a little bit of contrast and detail to the frame as a whole.
