How to decorate a living room with large windows

Naturally, most people prefer large windows rather than small ones. The reasons are diverse. Large windows are best when the views are also beautiful and when there’s something nice to see. They also let in lots of natural light, this making them best for living rooms. They also create a sense of spaciousness and airiness. But they also come with their own challenges, decorating a living room that has large windows is not as easy as you might think.

Since the windows are so large, they let in lots of natural sunlight and thus the room is already very bright. In this case two options appear. You can either continue on the same line and use bright colors and light textures to further make the décor even more airy and bright, or you can try to create contrasts by using darker colors and rich textures.

You can also create a nice balance and use a warm color palette to complement the light coming through the windows. You could use, for example, bright yellow accent pieces, the color of the sun, or orange elements for a dynamic and refreshing look.

If you want the atmosphere to feel warm and cozy and to somewhat contrast with the views and the openness of the landscape you can use warm colors such earthy tones such as beige, brown or red. You can also use wood as a main material. A living room with exposed beams would categorically feel cozier simply because of that detail. It’s the same for the rooms that have a fireplace or exposed brick walls.

Large windows often become a part of the interior décor itself. They often bring the touch of color and the bold details that a décor needs to stand out. This allows you to use neutrals for the interior and to create a simple décor while you let the windows add the spice it needs to stand out.
