Tiles are not easy to install or to take down so think very carefully before you choose a design or style. In the case of the bathroom, the tiles make up most of the room’s design. A series of basic details need to be taken into consideration such as the size, the color, the material, etc.
Most bathrooms are small so combining more than two colors can often turn out to be too much. Keep the décor simple. Decide on a color for the tiles and go with it. You can add a second accent color to the room with accessories.
Bathroom tiles come in a wide variety of models, shapes, sizes and designs. The square or rectangular tiles are the most common and the most important detail about them is often the color. But some tiles can have special designs which stand out in other ways.
When choosing the tiles for the bathroom, keep in mind that you’ll be walking barefooted in there, you’ll be taking baths and showers and you don’t want the floor to be slippery. Choose tiles with a matte finish for the floor. The walls don’t necessarily have to match. You can, of course, choose to only have tiles on the walls and use another materials for the floor such as wood, linoleum, stone, etc.
Usually, big, square tiles are used for the bathroom floor. They’re easier to install and more practical. The tiles installed on the walls, however, can feature other shapes. Subway tiles are quite common and you can combine the two designs.
If you prefer prints for the bathroom tiles, then you must think how you want to use this feature. For example, you can have a geometric pattern for the bathroom floor and the walls can be simple, with the usual subway tiles on them. You can also make the shower enclosure stand out by choosing an eye-catching print for that area only.
