They say chess is the sport for mind and that it goes a long way back in history, being played by the Orient kings. I love chess and so do many other people, some of them even being so passionate about it that they want to reflect their passion in the way they arrange their homes, so they want to arrange a chess-themed living room. It’s not so hard to do that, as you can find enough chess-themed objects on the Internet, in the online stores, but you must be careful not to exaggerate and obtain an unwanted result.
The first thing to do is to paint the walls of the living room in black and white. But do not paint them exactly like a chess board because this would be too tiring for the eyes. You can though paint one wall white and the opposite black. Then use some or all of the decorating items presented here, all of them chess-themed. You can purchase a great looking, soft and comfortable chess rug in black and white ($575) and use it in combination with a nice black table lamp that looks like a pawn or another chess piece ($89.91).
Or you can try to combine a checkered coffee table in black and white and maybe some nice looking ceramic supports for the books. Hang a beautiful post-modernist painting on the wall and the effect will be amazing. Just make sure you do not fill up the room with chess-related items because too much is too much in everything you want to do. So keep it simple, but in good taste.
