In modern homes an open floor plan is there by definition and it’s even difficult to find an apartment which doesn’t have this type of layout. Evidently, the kitchen and the living room merge and most often it’s the kitchen island which creates the transition between spaces. For those that prefer a sleek and seamless décor without the usual in your face features, finding such a design often proves to be a challenge. But i29 architects came up with a wonderful design specifically for this kind of demands.
This almost invisible kitchen set comes with an island which has been reduced to its absolute minimum. It’s a long island with a thin top only a couple of centimeters thick and two matching side panels. But don’t let the simplicity fool you. The island comes with all the basic features included: water, cooking and electrical connections and cleverly integrated into this sleek design.
The island is the visible part of the kitchen and ensures a beautiful transition between spaces, looking more like a piece of furniture than as functional kitchen feature. The rest of the equipment is hidden behind large sliding wall panels. There you can find all the kitchen appliances and storage spaces. If you wish to conceal this unit you can design a matching wall and integrate the solid volume like in the case of this apartment in Paris.
