Waiting for the big night? The last night of 2013 you (and everyone else) will ever live? Let’s make sure it’s memorable, huh? And since you have a few minutes (even last-minutes count as minutes) until the moment arrives, here are some quick and easy DIY party decoration ideas for the big night. And when I say things like “quick” and “easy” and “last-minute,” I’m not joking around.
Read on, you’ll see what I mean…and, hopefully, something you’ll be able to throw down last-minute to complete that perfect party atmosphere.
I mean, it’s hard to beat a DIY project that involves nothing more but some card stock and wrapping paper, right? Using a gradient of circle punch sizes, simply punch out your color- or metallic-coordinated papers and string ‘em up. Love this idea; it reflects a bit of bubbly.{found on martha}.
Whatever you’re drinking, the idea of adding some metallic sparkle to the plasticware that you’re ultimately throwing away is a good thing. Bonus: If you do different designs on the cups, people will be more likely to know which one is theirs after setting it down among others. Maybe.{found on designsponge}.
Want the same idea (festive metalized plastic) but easier? Check out this ultra-fast-and-easy upgrade to similarly disposable stemware. This one gives a little more metallic bang for your buck, which I like.{found on momtastic}.
Keep out a strand of twinkle lights from your Christmas décor, grab an empty club soda bottle and some fireproof tinsel, and you’ve got yourself some bonus sparkly lighting for your New Year’s Eve party. LED lights work especially well with metallic motifs.{found on loulou}.
It doesn’t get easier than this. It really doesn’t. Some feathers, some spray adhesive, some glitter. Do that, tie them all together, and enjoy an understated chic and glitter-ful evening.
Who doesn’t love a sunburst form? Nobody, that’s who. Golden glitter-encrusted Styrofoam balls spiked with golden spray painted toothpicks (kabob skewers would work well here, too, depending on the size of your Styrofoam ball) form a perfect New Year’s Eve bash accent.{found on site}.
Forget the fact that these numbers are two years old; this idea is timeless. Cut out some large block numbers (freehanded or of the font of your choice) and wrap them with shimmery golden tinsel (this example comes from a tinsel-type door curtain) and some glue to hold it in place. I’m trying to think of a way to make this sound harder than it is, but I can’t. Enjoy.{found on site}.
Last but not least is this perhaps more time-consuming but incredibly easy way to add bling and shine to some plain ol’ candles. With thumbtacks. Cover the whole candle, go stripes, monograms, or “bubble” the tacks up from the bottom. The sky’s the limit with this idea!{found on site}.
