Flowers are a great way to add color to your home. But you need to use vases that are stylish and match with your home decor. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to add your own DIY touch to vases. This tutorial uses recycled wine bottles, so it’s both inexpensive and eco-friendly. And most importantly, it’s stylish and easy to customize.

You’ll need to start by removing the paper labels that come on your wine bottles. Try to peel as much off as you can with just your hands. Then you can fill up your sink with soapy water and submerge the wine bottles for a few minutes and wipe the paper backing off with a sponge.Allow the glass to dry fully before moving onto the next step.
Next, it’s time to outline the area you want painted. Decide how high up on the wine bottle you want the paint to stop. Place a plastic shopping bag over the top of the bottle and secure it with some painter’s tape right at the height you want the paint to stop. Make sure none of the plastic is peeking out under the tape.
Take your taped bottles outside and place them on a surface to paint. Choose a color that complements your home decor. Then completely cover the untaped area with spray paint. Rotate the bottles if necessary. And then let the paint dry.
You can also choose to get creative and add even more colors to your vases. Leave the original bag and tape in place and just add another piece of tape around the bottle at a lower spot. Cover the bottom again with a new color of paint and let it dry. You can do this as many times for as many colors as you’d like.
Once you’ve added all of the colors you want, allow the paint to dry fully. Then remove each layer of tape along with the plastic bag. Make any touch-ups if necessary. Then all you have to do is add some water and flowers and display your new vases in your home!
