There are lots of projects you can do by yourself for your home. You can even craft your own furniture and this way you will make it exactly according to your needs and specifications. Here’s how you can make your own floating media cabinet. For this particular project you’ll need 2 shelving units and 3 doors.
First of all, you’ll need to mount the flat panel screen and run the wires through the wall. Attach the two units together and then attach them both to the wall with brackets and 4 inch lag bolts into the studs. You’ll need a total of 8 brackets/bolts for solid support. Then attach the doors. In this case, gloss brown doors were used and the middle door has the center tinted glass option.
It’s actually not that difficult to crate such an item. If you don’t have any specialized knowledge you can make your job easier by choosing elements that are already cut to the exact dimensions and you’ll only need to install them and that’s pretty easy. Of course, if you feel talented, you can come up with your own design and even add some details while you’re at it. Anyway, this particular project will allow you to create a simple, modern and very functional media cabinet that you can then paint in a color of your choice.{found on ikeahackers}
