Bare walls with nothing being displayed or attached to them often look incomplete. We’ve gotten used to the idea of hanging decorations and furniture on walls and over the years we’ve come up with a lot of cool ideas related to this particular interior design strategy. When it comes to wall hangings, there are probably more options than you’re aware of which is why is though it would be a good idea to share with you some of the ideas that we find most interesting.
It’s not very often you see planters being put on display on walls in a home. That may have something to do with the fact that plants require certain conditions in order to grow and stay healthy so if you want to hang some on the walls of your home you should first make sure that they’ll get enough natural light.
Shelving units, by comparison, are a very common wall hanging option. Open shelves are very versatile and that allows them to be useful in basically every room of the house. You can use them for storage as well as for display.
When hanging items on a wall it’s often nice to work with clusters and to create gallery walls. A particularly interesting idea is to display decorative mirrors and to organize them into an eye-catching installation.
A cluster of furniture modules is another option and the focus is on functionality as well as on design and looks. Consider a cluster of open and closed modules of different shapes, sizes and even with different finishes or colors.
Another wall hanging idea that’s very common has to do with framed artwork and pictures. When creating a gallery wall such as this one you have to consider not just the images you’re displaying but also the frames you put them in.
Sometimes the wall itself can be the main focal point and the elements you’re hanging on it can be simple and meant to highlight the wall’s own unique characteristics. For example, check out this marbled wall finish. The LED light strips installed to the underside of the shelves highlight not just the contents on the shelves but the wall itself.
Not everything you hang on your walls has to be extraordinary. Sometimes it’s refreshing to keep the decorations simple. Of course, if you feel that would be too simple perhaps you should install some wallpaper on the wall, something with an eye-catching pattern.
Mirrors are known to help make spaces seem larger, brighter and more open so consider using this to your advantage by hanging a few mirrors on one of your accent walls. It’s an idea that can prove to be useful in spaces like the living room, the bathroom and even the bedroom. The mirror can be framed or can compensate for the lack of frames in other ways.
Let’s not forget about wall clocks. There was a time when they were actually very useful. Of course, nowadays they’re mostly decorative so it can be interesting to find a clock with a very abstract or artistic design. This one seems just right.
When it comes to wall hangings it’s often best to combine aesthetics with functionality. A particularly funky and elegant idea can be to complete the space with a wall-mounted mini bar/ wine rack with shelves for glasses and accessories.
Casual wall hanging decorations are pretty awesome mostly because they make space seem very friendly and welcoming but also because a lot of times you can easily craft the decorations yourself. The options are very numerous. One example is this chic system that lets you hang pictures and other things on a piece of string.
We mentioned at one point that the frame is just as important as the picture or painting it holds. But what if you were to only display one of the two? Of course, pictures without frames are not that unusual but empty frames, on the other hand, are. That’s why they look so interesting in the first place.
There’s a lot going on here. This accent wall features a pretty cool installation with pockets that serve as planter boxes and accent lighting, not to mention the texture and patterns on the wall itself.
Keeping a bike inside the house can cause a lot of headaches. The biggest problem is often storage. Of course, if you were to hang the bike on a wall then you wouldn’t have to worry about that anymore.
A green wall is a daring project and you have to be committed to the idea in order for it to be a success. The most difficult task is creating the storage installation for all the plants. There are several options to choose from so be sure to do your homework before making a decision.
