Compact kitchens change the way we look at this particular area of our house. Having a big kitchen with everything you need is what anyone wishes for. But there’s more than one way of getting function and being practical and space is not always needed. As you’ll see in these next examples, you can fit a lot of functions in a tiny and compact design, a perfect way of saving space in a tiny kitchen.

This is a design by New Zeeland company Compact Concepts. It occupies 1.8 square meters and includes everything one could need in a kitchen: refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee makes, stove, sink and plenty of storage. They all come in an attractive shell.

Miniki.

This compact kitchen unit from Miniki is perfect for small apartments where the kitchen is part of the living room. It comes in three basic modules. The simplest one comes with just a sink and some storage space. There’s also a model with a fridge and two cooking zones and another one which is a fully-equipped eat-in kitchen. They all come in a range of attractive colors.

Kitchoo Kitchen.

Here’s another compact design, this time by Kitchoo. It’s an innovative modern kitchen, perfect for small spaces. It has a compact wood body and a natural stone counter top plus a 2-burner induction hob, a sink with telescopic faucet, a fridge and two spacious drawers. If you want, you can also add a dishwasher and a range hood.

Come together.

One minute this is a compact unit and the next a multitude of compartments and features pop out revealing lots of hidden functions. This design looks similar to a simple kitchen island but it can expand and become a dining area for four. The seat are hidden inside like all the other secret elements.{found on designboom}.

Carré

Customization is very important in any kitchen. German designers Robert Schierjott and Ulrich Kohl created this kitchen unit which allows the users to customize it according to their cooking needs. The whole unit takes up 1 square meter and it’s made of two modules which transform this compact cube into a spacious cooking area including a sink, a counter, a gas port and some storage.{found on designboom}.

Small type.

Need a new island for your kitchen? Why choose a traditional model when you can be clever and save space with a clever design like this one? This is Small Type, a modular kitchen created by Kristin Laass and Norman Ebelt. When closed. It occupies 1 square meter. Roll away the table to get extra dining space and take advantage of the refrigerator, induction cooktop, oven and storage spaces offered by the unit.

Stewart & Justin Case.

Called Stewart & Justin Case, this mobile unit combines all the essential kitchen elements in one compact design. It was created by Maria Lobisch and Andreas Nather and it allows many different possible configurations. The unit features a belt system which holds the elements together. There are two different portions, one equipped with a sink, drying rack and a shelving system and another which serves as a dining table and prep surface.{found on designboom}.

Space saving.

How would you like to have a piece which can serve as a compact kitchen, guest room and office and which occupies very little floor space? We’re talking about this piece of folding furniture designed by Atelier OPA. It combines essential furniture in a small and compact unit without compromising on form and functionality. Unfold it and reveal a mini kitchen with a sink, prep surface, storage and everything else.

Minikitchen.

Designed by Joe Colombo, the Minikitchen comes in the form of a large trolley and it combines a hob unit, a mini refrigerator, storage drawer, storage compartments, sockets, a chopping board and a pull-out worktop. It’s like a series of puzzle pieces which come together perfectly.{found on architonic}.

Black Contemporary.

Here’s another wonderful design which combines an impressive selection of appliances and features, including a stainless steel worktop, a refrigerator with freezer, sockets, ceramic hot plates, microwave and a sink. The design is available in a variety of finishes and colors.

Although only 1.7 meter wide, this unit offers a multitude of functions. It includes a large prep area and lots of storage hidden behind the by-fold doors. Oma’s Rache kitchen.

The Oma’s Rache kitchen is very impressive. It has an extremely compact design which allows it to fold flat against the wall. It looks like a white cutout and at the touch of the button it folds out and reveals a table, two chairs, a lamp and cupboards.{found on trendhunter}.

Ecooking Concept from Clei.

This is Ecooking, a vertical kitchen concept designed to let you save space and let you make the most of your electrical appliances. The modular unit can also be used for eating so it’s really great for small spaces. The modules are small but very efficient and functional and the color is also very attractive.

On wheels.

Sometimes you wish you could just pack your kitchen and take it with you. Until not so long ago that was nothing more than a thought. Now you can actually do that thanks to designs like this one. This is a mobile kitchen on wheels by Calanc, perfect for outdoor cooking.
