Everyone knows that the Google offices have some of the most creative and ingenious designs and that’s been proven with projects such as their offices and headquarters in Amsterdam, Milan, Moscow, Madrid, Dublin, Tel Aviv and several other countries. Each time, elements from the local culture were expertly blended with specific requirements and the results are spectacular, just like in the case of the Budapest Office we’re going to take a look at right now.
The office was a project by Graphael Design Studio, a team that’s been established in 2003 at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and which focuses on imparting their creative and artistic vision to all their projects by findings the best means of implementation.
In the case of the Google Budapest Office, the team chose the spa atmosphere as inspiration. The team created a people-oriented working environment that promotes creativity and efficiency through unique elements and an overxall healthy design. One of the main requirements the designers were asked to comply with was the use of recycled materials so the team included pallets and other residual materials into the project.
The ambiance inside is green and relaxed. There’s a conference room that has vinyl flooring with water effects and printed wallpaper on the walls. The recessed light fixtures were removed from the ceilings and this exposed a series of pipes. The designers added colorful pipes painted in the colors of the Google logo to create an industrial and playful atmosphere.
In the meeting room, the carpet mimics concrete and the walls feature an aqua design with golden accents and repetitive patterns.
The boardroom is designed to resemble a sauna, with real wood on the walls, floor and ceiling.
The ambiance is very casual throughout. The office was decorated with beach balls and colorful towels, elements which further give the space an even more relaxed feel.
As far as style goes, the designers combined antique furniture with contemporary pieces and created strong contrasts. This unusual and dramatic blend gives character to the rooms and allows the work environment to feel cozy, to look familiar and to be unique at the same time.
