A home bar is a useful feature, especially if you’re the type that enjoys entertaining guests a lot. Yet simply deciding on a style or a design is not that easy as they each have their pros and cons and there are so many different options that picking just one is really difficult.
A small home bar can fit just about anywhere. For example, put it under the stairs and complement it with a pair of comfortable armchairs and a small table.
If the bar is not exactly small, you can make turn it into a focal point or an accessory piece of furniture for the living room. This one sits in front of the window and has plenty of room underneath for extra stools.
A home bar can also be a portion of a counter in the kitchen or anywhere else in the house. It’s why kitchen islands often double as bars in a lot of modern homes.
When designing and decorating your home bar, don’t forget the lighting. In order to create the right mood you need the right type of lighting. A pair of pendant lamps or sconces would work.
And if you want your bar to be complete, you also need storage for all the glasses and bottles. This is a complete unit. There’s the wine cooler, the cabinet and extra storage inside the drawer and closed compartments.
Use glass shelves to keep the design as simple and transparent as possible. Glass is not an invasive material and, because it’s pretty much transparent, it has minimal impact on the overall décor.
This type of bar is just what you need in your empty corner. It’s compact but very practical, with plenty of built-in storage for the bottles, glasses and accessories. It also looks really classy and professional.
But if you prefer a more casual look then a simple table would do just fine. And if you need storage on shelves, you can use the bookcase come up with your own design and system.
And when space is limited, just get a tiny home bar. This one is really compact but it still includes the basics. It’s just what you need in your small living room and it can easily fit between two armchairs.
If you want to make your home bar look more interesting without spending a lot of money on the makeover, try using chalkboard paint. This is a great option which allows you to personalize your bar however you want.
Maybe if you one of those antique TVs you can turn it into a one-of-a-kind home bar. It requires a careful restoration but it shouldn’t be that difficult to get things done.
Want to give your bar some extra flavor? Try repurposing an old whiskey barrel. Of course, finding the barrel is the most difficult part. After that, turning it into a bar is not that difficult.
You can turn one of the walls into a bar. Add a wall-mounted shelf and some wall-mounted storage for the bottles. You can pretty much use your own ideas and creativity here.
Built-in shelves are ideal for setting up a home so if you already have some in your home then you can just use those. Or maybe you can use an existing cabinet or bookcase.
Open shelves are just as practical if not even more actually. So here’s a great idea: use an old cabinet as the base for your bar and two or three open shelves for the bottles, glasses and other things.
Armoires are really versatile and really great when used as bars. But they work best if you like the rustic or antique look. They’re not exactly suitable for modern and contemporary interiors.
And then there’s also the obvious choice: a classic bar cart. Not only that these things are easy to build or cheap to buy but they’re also very practical. The feature castors so they’re easy to move around.
