Abandoned house in Brooklyn beautifully renovated with a small budget

Not a lot of people would dare to even try to transform a basically abandoned house into a stylish home. However, not everyone is Jeff Sherman, architect for Sherman Architects. He is not a typical home renovator and he proved that with this project. He decided to start this project in 2000. He had a very finite budget and a wrecked house in Brooklyn that he wanted to turn into a beautiful private home.

It took the architect ten years to complete the project. But that’s because he worked as his own contractor and builder. After all that time, the house is unrecognizable. What used to be a scary abandoned space is now a beautiful and inviting house. The architect managed to do all that for a price of about $100 per square foot. The house features a bright and airy dining room with a skylight in the center. The rest of the house shares a similar décor.

The architect was drawn by this place because he thought it had great potential. It was a raw house but it was not completely bad. It still had a nice structure and a beautiful backyard. Immediately after buying the property the architect started demolition. He then restructured the shell of the house, after which he started camping inside. He preserved everything that was still usable and didn’t need to be replaced. At one point he got some help and hired people to help him finish the renovation. It took ten years to finish this project but it’s finally done and ready to serve as a cozy new home.{foundon dwell}.
