How cool would it be if your house had a draw bridge? It would of course have to be adapted to a more modern design and it can even be quite small. This tiny house designed by Greenmoxie has one. It’s in the form of a deck attached to the front of the house which can fold up and down as needed.
This tiny house was built on a 30′ trailer and can be transported to virtually any location
It’s not as impressive as a medieval castle but it’s a really cool feature. When the draw bridge deck is up it blocks the front door and makes the house compact and more secure. Also, in case you haven’t noticed, this house is built on a 30′ triple-axle trailer which means it can be transported to a different location at any time.
The entrance is marked by a red door and a small wooden deckThe deck is big enough for a small table and a couple of chairs
Let’s talk a bit about the design. The exterior, apart from this cool little deck, has an array of big and small windows and an asymmetric roof. As far as the materials used for this are concerned, they include corrugated black metal and Shou Sugi Ban siding. In other words, the exterior walls are covered in charred oak planks which gives them a really cool and unique look. This also allows the red front door to stand out even more.
The space inside feels very welcoming thanks to all the wood used on the walls, floor and ceilingThe little living room has a custom L-shaped sofa placed by the front door
Inside there’s not a lot of room but the 340 square feet of space were used very efficiently. The interior walls are covered in pine wood which creates a very warm and inviting envelope. The ceiling is decorated with reclaimed barn wood and the flooring is made of oak with a dark stained finish. This variety creates layers in the design.
This little window up here lets fresh air and light into the loft bedroom areaThe bathroom is hidden behind a sliding barn door beyond the kitchen area
The floor plan is organized into a main area with an L-shaped bench-style sofa, a kitchen and some storage. There’s also a custom-designed mobile dining table which can be kept inside or taken out on the deck. The bathroom is small but has a walk-in shower, a toilet and a sink with a bit of storage inside the vanity. What remains is the loft bed which can be reached via a set of stairs that double as storage modules. Up here the area is really cozy.
