The company Movable Roots specializes in designing and building mobile homes which are basically tiny houses on wheels. They create custom projects and one of their latest ones is the Cathouse. This is a house built for a couple and their four cats and it’s interesting in a few different ways.
This is a house on wheels which the owners plan to take on many travels together with their beloved cats
Compared to lots of other similar structures it has a clean and rather unique layout. The bathroom is separated from all the other spaces for increased privacy and although there’s not a lot of space inside there was room for a living area, a kitchen and two lofted bedrooms.

The exterior has blue-grey color with a few wooden elements mixed in as wellThere’s windows of different shapes and sizes strategically placed on the front and the sides
The house as built on a 28′ trailer and inside it has a total of 350 square feet of living space if we also count the two loft areas. On the exterior there’s a nice awning that provides shade and protection from the rain when the house is parked. This is also a wind-sensitive awning which is able to automatically retract when the winds reach a certain speed that could potentially become unsafe. The entrance is marked by a red door with a glass center panel and retractable blinds on the other side.

The living area is quite small but nice and cozy, with a window nook that has a bench and two comfortable lounge chairs facing a wall-mounted TV. The window seat gives a nice space for the cats to line up on and look outside and just be with their owners when they relax and watch TV. The kitchen is part of this main area as well. It’s fairly big and it has lots of storage space. The cabinets have this beautiful dusty blue color which was used throughout the whole interior.
The bathroom is hidden away from all the other spaces and is pretty big for a tiny house like this oneThis also serves as a laundry room and the cabinetry has the same beautiful color as the kitchen
There’s also two lofted bedrooms, one on each side. One is accessible via a ladder and the other has a set of storage stairs leading up to it. They’re connected by a catwalk so both the humans and the cats can walk between them easily without having to go downstairs first.
There’s also a walk-in shower tucked into the corner of the bathroomThe main bedroom has a skylight that gives it a bit more light and a view of the skyThere’s not enough space to stand up next to the bed but one can do so by stopping on the stairsThere’s another lofted bedroom on the opposite side and the two are connected by a catwalkThe second bedroom doesn’t have stairs and can be reached by climbing a ladder insteadThis is the catwalk connecting the two bedroomsThe limited interior space was used very cleverly and in a way that doesn’t make any of the space feel cluttered and tinyThe cozy living area is perfect for these two lounge chairs but could also accommodate a small sofaThe wood accents add an elegant and refined touch to the interior designThis tiny house is also ready to be used off-the-grid in case the owners decide to go on an adventure
