When the granddaddy of all interior design publications throws a design show, expectations (and excitement) are high. Homedit is looking forward to bringing you all the highlights from theArchitectural Digest Design Show 2016, held March 17-20. The 15th annual event will present the latest in all facets of design, for all tastes and sensibilities, from minimalist and modern to opulent and casual.

Sculptor Barry Entner has been working with glass for 30 years. Using a primarily tropical palette, he creates sculptures and lighting that reflect the relationship between kinetic and potential life.

FURNISH is one of the show’s featured areas, that includes furnishings, wall coverings, textiles, art, rugs and everything else you’d expect. This section represented a big chunk of the 300+ companies and brands that will be included, and after checking out who’ll be there, these are just a fewof the ones we’re most eager to see:

The Mayweather sofa by KGBL is the exception to massive sofas. A tufted back combined with loose seat cushions are surrounded by down for ultimate comfort. Metal legs have burnished faces and polished edges. KGBL’s three founders produce “uncompromising, unapologetically modern furniture.”This console table has an Asian feel and is from ZELOUF+BELL who have been making museum-quality furniture to commission in their workshop in Ireland since 1992.Max ID NY, founded by Maximilian Eicke. produces it own goods and retails them throughout the world. This Koala table’s unusual design is a bit rustic yet elegant.David Stine Woodworking uses sustainably harvested wood, to create stunning, one-of-a-kind furnishings. The Mulberry Table is beautiful: . The top is a single slab of Illinois Mulberry and the base is handmade blackened steel. Stone will be featured in the MADE section of the show.Brooklyn-based Peg Woodworking is a one woman operation run by designer and woodworker Kate Casey. The former sculptor began doing custom furniture in 2013. She uses hand made joinery, Danish cord weaving, crochet, macrame and shaker techniques.We’re really excited to see some of the furnishings from Bozeman, Montana-based MFGR Designs. The diverse design + production team produces exceptional designs like this table.Lighting is always an intriguing category and we’re pleased to see that Niche, whom we met at ICFF 2015, will be at the Architectural Digest show with more new, cool lighting fixtures like these pendants.This stunning “Ozone” light is by David D’imperil, artist and designer, who specializes in sculptural lighting. He is known for his work with linear suspension lighting as an art form.Wall coverings have come a long way from plain old wallpaper. This bedroom has an accent wall covered in Stikwoods’s reclaimed weathered wood. Stikwood is the world’s first sustainable peel and stick reclaimed wood planking.Eskayel is a New York based surface design firm that creates energetically positive, eco-friendly, wall-coverings, fabric, carpets, accessories and furnishings. Their new Dalili Collection of wall coverings is soft, sophisticated and casual.Artistic Tile will show some amazing designs like the golden Art Deco “Siam.”Iranian native Bahram Shabahang of Orley Shabahang creates these artistic, creative carpets using long forgotten techniques that were used to make great masterpiece antiques.Similarly, Jan Kath creates equally stunning masterpiece rugs that combine the “classic elements from the oriental carpet with contemporary, minimalist design” in Nepalese workshops. This is his “Galaxy” rug.

The latest kitchen and bath innovations will be featured in the REFRESH section, which includes more than 100 companies. In addition to new products, new technology in appliances and all aspects of kitchen and bath fixtures and decorwill be featured. Homedit is looking forward to seeing not only what some of the big global companies like Gaggenau and Bauformat have to offer, but also what boutique brands are presenting.

These stylish basins from Pyrolave are made with volvic lava extracted from the Nugere crater at the heart of Auvergne’s volcanoes in France. The resulting glazed fixtures have delicate line that appear and are the signature of the glazed lava stone.

Pyrolave’s sleek fixtures are glazed in bright, colorful finishes.Ilve’s gorgeous ranges and cooktops will be on display. Trends being highlighted all be their custom color program, mixed metal models and a long list of cooking accessories that go with their models.The brightly colored vintage style appliances of Big Chill, founded in Boulder, are brightening kitchens across the US and Europe. Since making a plash with their colorful refrigerators in 2001, Big Chill has introduced a full line of appliances available in 200 eye-popping custom colors.Appliance manufacturer Smeg also has a retro fridge line, which combines the latest in technology with the voltage style of the 1950’s fridge.At the other end of the design spectrum is this Gaggenau Vario Fridge and freezer. The customizable interior sections of the coming system are completely hidden away behind sleek cabinetry. This “secret kitchen” style is a big trend for 2016 and is a counterpoint to the chef’s kitchen style popular in recent years.Various cooling drawers can be installed individually or along with larger freezer and refrigerator units.Sleek and colorful options for a modern kitchen like this one from Bauformat include all variety of extrassuch as lighted drawers and interior drawer sliders.

One of the most exciting parts of the show is the MADE section, which feature more than 150 juried galleries of artists and designers. The booths display art, fine furniture, sculpture, textiles, and lighting,that is available for purchase or order. More than 70 of this year’s makers are new.

Glass artist Abby Modell will showcase her Galaxy collection, which plays on transparencies and light. Model’s works are inspired by the natural swirling formations of the stars and planets in the night sky. The ‘Galaxy Collection’ includes wall art and sculptural objects.Brooklyn-based Volk Furniture designs and makes handcrafted, traditionally joined and finished wood furniture. It’s products showcase the beauty of solid wood and include unexpected details, such as drawers lined with shirting fabric, antique organ stops re-tasked as drawer pulls, or inlaid vintage typewriter keys.We admired Palo Samko’s handsome pieces at ICFF 2015 and are excited to see them again at the AD Design Show this year. The handmade custom wood furniture designer and artist creates American and Danish style furnishings in beautiful woods. The pale dining table is a particularly beautiful piece.
