They can be pretty and feminine. They can be rustic and vintage. They can be modern and trendy. They can be dainty and childish. Fortunately enough for us, they can be whatever we need them to be, granted we find the ones that fit our home’s vision. Brooches aren’t just a stylish way to spruce up an outfit, but they’re also a stylish way to spruce up your home’s decor. Sure they look great on a hat, scarf, sweater or purse but they also look great adorning the nooks and crannies of our homes.
#1. Dress up a plain napkin ring or curtain back.
I’ve been seeing this around the blogs a lot lately and it has got to be one of the most adorable DIY’s trending right now. Sure you can buy napkin rings with already attached do-dads but why not buy some cheaper, plainer napkins rings and use your own pretty brooches to do the trendy trick?(*Note: napkin rings are also great for tying back curtains!){pictures found on 1&2}.
#2. Decorate your pillow.
Slap on a sparkly brooch and you’ve got a whole new pillow! You’ll be amazed how fast a brooch will turn a simple pillow around. And it literally takes about 30 seconds to do!{found on site}.
#3. Transform your lamp.
Most lampshades are quite plain. But add a brooch and it’s a complete transformation. It’s so easy to do and there’s no excuse not to because of its ease! Sparkly, floral or just a colorful piece; it doesn’t matter what type of brooch you choose it’ll still make your lamp that much brighter.{picture found on site}.
#4. Make a wreath.
A wonderfully vintage piece, creating a wreath out a bunch of old or found brooches is easy and makes for a super feminine piece of home decor. Check out this DIY to create one yourself!
#5. Line a mirror.
A DIY I am actually working on myself, covering the frame of a mirror with brooches enhances the already natural light coming from the reflection. Mirrors bring glow and illusive space to a room …. adding sparkly or colorful brooches just enhances its benefits. And all you need to put this together? A hot glue gun. It’s that simple!{found on pinterest}.
#6. Stick em on the fridge.
Tired of the same, boring magnets on the fridge? Are you in need of a small kitchen pick-me-up? Grab a brooch, take off the pin, glue on a magnet strip and you’ve got a very fashion-forward piece of fridge decoration!{picture found on countryliving}.
