Whether you agree with this or not, the reality is that the TV is almost always the focal point in the living room and the elements around which the rest of the room is organized and centered. But why is that? Well, there are a number of perfectly good reasons.
For example, if you don’t have the luxury of having a separate room for watching TV, then you’ll most likely use the living room for that. So you’ll pick a nice media unit, a large TV and you’ll place the sofa and the armchairs in front of it.
Another perfectly good reason for arranging the furniture in your living room around the TV is that you enjoy having friends over for movie night. If this is a regular thing then it’s a lot better to have a fixed layout centered around the TV than to have to make changes and move furniture around every time you’re planning such an activity.
And even if you’re not the type that ha friends over every friday night for movie time you may still choose to design your living room around the TV. Let’s say you’re single and you like it that way. Then you probably have plenty of time to spare and you spend it watching your favorite TV shows.
Consider the following situation: you have a smart TV (like most people these days) and you enjoy watching videos, listening to music or linking your phone to the TV screen for playing games or other activities. That’s another perfectly good reason for making the TV the center of attention in your living room.
Your TV could also be linked to your Xbox, Playstation or even to your computer so you’d want it to be placed in such a way so you can comfortably use it to play games, either by yourself or with friends.
These are just a few reasons why your living room and all the furniture in there should be organized around the TV. If you have other great ideas, please share.
