Now, if you have never heard of a fillable ornament, it’s basically a hollow ornament that you can fill up. For example, you could fill up your ornament with buttons, beads, pictures, or even Legos. Fillable ornaments (in general) come in a variety of shapes, styles, and sizes. This is something to keep in mind when you are wanting to create your own fillable ornament. For the 3 projects that I am showing you today, my fillable ornaments are 4 inches.

The 3 projects that I am making today, involve using items that you either have around your house or keep out all year around. Specifically, I will be showing you how to fill up a fillable ornament using vintage items, craft supplies, and items that have a specific theme. The nice thing about using these types of items in a fillable ornament is that it displays your favorite items in a new way and you are not spending a ton of money to make a handmade ornament.

So, to find out how to make own unique fillable ornaments, keep reading below!

Step 1: Take apart the two sides of your clear ornament ball, and clean out both halves. (The reason why we are doing this is to make sure that there is no dust or small particles in your ornament.) If you are using another type of clear ornament ball, simply take off the top and run it under some water to clean out the inside. But using the type of ball that separates into two halves is best as it lets you put larger items inside the ball.

Step 2: Take a piece of tissue paper and cut it down to a small square. Then crumble it up and place it inside your ornament ball.

Step 3: Place your vintage item on top of the tissue paper.

Now, depending on your vintage item, you may want to attach the item to the tissue paper, so it doesn’t fall forward. This can be done by sticking a piece of low-tack tape on the back of the item and then pressing it into the tissue paper.

Step 4: Once your ornament has been filled, gently snap the two halves back together. Then tie on a piece ribbon to the top of the ornament.

I love how each of these ornaments turned out! I think my favorite would be the vintage fillable ornament.

The great thing about these fillable ornament projects, besides them being inexpensive to make, is that they don’t involve any type of special tools or glue. So, since there is no drying time to wait for, a bunch of these ornaments could be made over the course of a few hours!

Out of these 3 fillable ornament ideas, which one would you like to make for your Christmas tree?
