It’s not uncommon to see a great new design in a hotel, restaurant or public space while you’re out and about in your daily life. So of courses, Homedit always heads to New York for Boutique Design NY, which is the leading trade fair for the hospitality industry. There’s inspiration aplenty and most of the vendors also work with residential designers or customers. Every year, we find all sorts of great new decor ideas you can use to spruce up your home.
Colors and details are spectacular in the Houtique display.
The booth by Houtique of Spain was so great we could not possiblypick one item to highlight. From the fringey pink “Wink” pendants to the unusual armchair that looks like a short wall wrapped around a large stool, they all have a little something extra. The striped pendants are candy-colored pops of brightness and the metal framed chair is elegant but still fun. The lamps and other pieces are the fruit of a collab with Ana Palacios and Christophe Penasse of Masquespacio. We can’t wait to see more from this brand!
The design of this chair is lithe and regal, especially with its metallic finish.
McGuire’s Butterfly Chair is as grand as it is graceful. The flowing rattan frame sweeps out to each side in a symmetrical design that both curved and geometric. Designed byEdward Tuttle, it is accentedby curved details even in the base. This particularchair is done in silver and gold leaf, which helps add even more of a regal flair. Of course, it’s also available in a wide array of non-metallic colors.
A print that includes flora and fauna adds extra interest to an already stylish chair,
Moroso has decked out the small armchair version of the Ariel byEdward Van Vliet in vibrant red, which really highlights the print on the seat. The colorful bird and bug printed on the seat stand out against the vividchair. The pillow — with a butterfly pictured in the center strip — also coordinatesperfectly. This is an exceptionally comfortable chair that gets added interest from the critters printed on the seat cushion.
Polart has commission Mexican artist M.ontiel to create one-of-a-kind pieces.
You can always count on Polart to brighten a room with its vividly colored Victorian style pieces and now they have teamed up with Mexican artist M.ontielon some special pieces that feature his artwork. From children’schairs, an embellished bookcase and this triple settee, each piece is done in equally colorful and funky designs that are more like street art.
Nanimarquina has trasnformed natural rug desings into poufs.
Nanimarquina, a company known for its stylishly designed, high-quality handcrafted rugs, has used the same natural wovens to create these poufs. Ideal for any space, we love the neutral palette and the different stripe patterns. The company has also created a woven textile that looks and feels like their wool rugs but is made from plastic. In all cases, it’s a modern fusion of traditional rug techniques with contemporary design and now new materials.
These are NOT pendants, but rather a flat screen display.
Simply including these “pendants” in a section about lighting is sort of shortchanging this innovative design. What looks to be a collection of black wire pendants is actually a printed sheet of material that is placed over a lightbox. This is a completely flat display — no hanging fixtures at all! Applelec is a sign trade supplier that developed the innovative lighting unit called the LED Light Sheet. While it was made for commercial purposes, the possibilities in residential settings are also endless. It would be great for adding dimension and depth to small spaces where there isn’t room to hang an array of fixtures like this. Oh, the possibilities.
Original BLC’s ceramic fixtures are warm and design forward.
We see lighting fixtures made from all sorts of materials, but some of the warmest and softest light is emitted from ceramic fixtures created by Original BTC, a British lighting manufacturer. The company pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with ceramic, yielding fixtures that range from traditional to flowing to quilted, like the one above. Regardless of the style, the quality of light they put out is warm and wonderful.
Spruce up a neutral interior with a spectacular rug,
Neutral and natural is always a good choice for rugs, but sometimes you want to make a bold flooring statement. This large, abstract rug from Couristan certainly fits the bill. The bright background hues are tempered by the brash black lines that slash across the face of the pattern. This would be ideal for anchoring a room done in the modern or minimalist styles.
Try using a distinctive tile style to elevate your decor.
TileBar presented a wide range of new, globally inspired tile designs, including large format Italian tiles, but we couldn’t resist this mixed animal-print tile. Yes, it’s trendy, but it’s also vibrant and different. Definitely a statement pattern ideal for a wall area or small floor, used in moderation the tile is stylish and bold.
Ratana’s bar chair is ideal for outdoors as well as indoors.
Is it for indoors or out? How about both? Besides being super comfortable, Ratana’s bar chair is designed for outdoor wearbut is so stylish it can do double duty inside. It is inspired by the chunky knitwear that’s so popular right now and is made of materials that are durable and dry quickly. The thick woven strands are actually made from an outdoor grade rubber and covered with a proprietary material that speeds drying after wet weather.
Outdoor lovers will want this heated seat.
Just a few short years ago, we fell in love with the concept of heated outdoor furniture from Galanter and Jones. Now, the quickly growing company has added another design to its offerings. The new chair with winged armrests has a new shape but the technology you expect with this brand: toasty warm and dry seating, thanks to the internal mechanism and the drain hole in the bottom of the seat.
Wireless and dimmable lanterns are very useful and stylish.
From outdoor furniture company Gloster come these portable, rechargeable lights. Tall and shapely, these extra tall floor lanterns have a great glow and are very useful outside since they can be moved around at will, without care of where the outlet is. Moreover, they come with a remote control so that you can dim them at will, from wherever you are sitting and chilling.
Virtually indestructible outdoor pieces can be hosed down for cleaning.
Anyone who’s had Little Tykes products for their small children, like slides and playhouses, knows how indestructible the material actually is. So it makes sense that this type of plastic has been stylishly transformed into outdoor furniture that can stand up to a lot of use as well as the elements. From the Swizzle table and planter to the Jigger stool, Tonik has a full range of outdoor seating and accessories that come in vibrant, fade-resistant hues that will serve you for countless seasons.
Havwoods new outdoor decking is far better than lumber for a deck.
Long-established flooring company Havwoods presented a wide range of new lighter shades — including plenty of greys and a unique white color — along with a new range of outdoor decking. The new line of composite decking is long-lasting and durable like some of its competitors, but it also has a difference: A special edge that laps underneath the adjoining pieces so that nothing can fall through the cracks. Spiky high heels are safe with this decking as well. The company’s foray into outdoor products also includes style options that are more contemporary and don’t feature a faux wood grain pattern.
Trendy shelving has been transformed into a vanity.
This style of shelving has been popular for so long now, it’s natural that it has been transformed into a vanity that is perfect for a guest bathroom or powder room. Jeff Martin Vanities has added a towel bar underneath the rectangular sink, as well as a bottom shelf. The round mirror with a matching frame is ample and fits within the frame of the vanity, meaning its ideal for smaller spaces too.
A red hot matte black finish is paired with rich brass.
Newport Brass presented a wide range of finishes for all of its bathroom fixtures and we immediately fell in love with this particular two-tone model. With matte black all the rage in interior design, the combination with rich brass accents is sure to be a popular choice. The models of hardware are customizable with the different finishes and styles run the gamut from retro to contemporary and everything in between.
Kohler’s toilet is chock full of the latest technology.
The first thing you notice about Kohler’s Numi toilet is the modern styling and lack of a dominant water tank. This toilet, however, is one of the most technologically advanced. Personalized settings for controlling everything from cleansing options to a heated seat and foot warmer, along with Bluetooth music syncing capabilities are just a few of the features. A touchscreen remote and emergency flush during power outagesarealso high-end features.
Clean and uncluttered is a popular bedroom style.
Rich cobalt blue and shades of gray come together in this sleek and clean bedroom design. Although it is designed for the hospitality industry, the uncluttered look with bedside sconces built into the extended headboard is a popular look in modern residential design as well. Created by the M Group, it’s a design many people will want to emulate in their own homes.
Rustic decor creates a very homey bedroom.
Fans of the rustic look will love this bedroom from Old Hickory. With products to add a natural flair to modern and traditional rooms, the company can create a rustic getaway in any home. Everything from the major furnishings to the accessories are ideal for interior decor schemes that need a touch — or a big dose — of rustic style. Solid wood elements like the lounge frame and the bed also mean they’re sturdy and durable too.
Versatile storage can make any room more functional.
We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest storage pieces and this one from Paradigm Trends fits the bill. Ideal for the bedroom, bathroom or laundry, it has shelf space, a contained wire shelf section underneath and moveable hooks. It’s done in a clean and neutral design, which means it goes with just about any style of decor.
These are just a few of the great products we found that can make your home more functional and stylish. We love when trends from the hospitality industry come into the home because you know the products will stand up to plenty of use.
