Even though the desk is primarily a functional piece of furniture, this doesn’t mean it has to have a boring design. In fact, the more interesting the desk is, the most pleasant the work environment. Modern desks are a perfect combination of simplicity of functionality. Still, they don’t sacrifice style in favor of functionality or space-efficiency but they manage to combine them in a very nice and harmonious way.
We’ve selected a few examples that beautifully illustrate this idea. Some of the desks have designs so crazy that you would have never thought of them while others use ideas that seem so familiar you wonder why nobody else has used them until now.
We’re going to start with what’s probably the most unusual desk you’ve seen so far. It’s a corner desk area made from the front portion of a bus. It sounds strange and it is an odd design but it’s also a unique desk area. The salvaged bus portion was repainted and modeled in order to become a room divider that accommodates the work station.{found on izismile}.
There are some things that are never missing from a desk or office. We’re not talking about furniture but about small items like the post-its. Well, this is a post-it-inspired desk designed by Soup Studio. It’s basically a small table with the top composed of giant post-it notes. You can unleash your creativity and if the results aren’t what you wanted you can just tear off the page and start over.

The desk was designed by MisoSoup and it’s basically just a strip of curved wood that wraps up and becomes a work station with storage space.

And here’s a desk for automobile lovers. It’s a single person desk made of a Mini Cooper car. Given the fact that the car is quite small, you can see why it was chosen for this project. The desk has a flat top and it’s very simple expect for the exterior aspect. It’s a desk designed to impress, not to be space-efficient.
Speaking about space-efficient desks, you’ve probably noticed how school desks always get smaller and smaller and become more compact. Well, take a look at this one. It has a minimalist and modern design and is available in three different sizes.
