10 Ways to Add Sparkle & Shine to a New Year’s Eve Party
10 Ways to Add Sparkle & Shine to a New Year’s Eve Party
Nov 6, 2024 11:35 PM

It’s almost here! The New Year. That great, mysterious, intriguing, exciting Unknown. Perhaps you want your celebration of the coming year to be as sparkliciously exciting as your expectations. Good news! There are tons of ways to add sparkle and shine to a New Year’s Eve party. From very simple to rather complex, from tiny touches to overwhelming visuals, your shimmering décor this year could be the talk of the next. Whatever your goals, here are ten ways you can amp up the metallic touches of your party décor, if you’re interested.Happy New Year!

If your party involves a sit-down dinner, consider incorporating metal (gold, brass, etc.) candlesticks into the centerpiece. Festive and elegant at the same time. If you have no quick or easy access to the real thing, consider spray painting some thrift store candlestick finds.

Sit-down dinner or no, a sequin tablecloth adds instant glittering drama to a dining table, refreshments table, or even a small cart in the corner. Tabletop candles (or battery-operated votives, if you’re more comfortable with the safety of those) enhance the sparkle.

What better way to keep the memories alive than with a sparkly metallic photo booth backdrop? It could be in an obscure corner of the party house or front-and-center for entertainment (and sparkly décor!). This particular one is fantastic but a fairly time-intensive DIY; you could get creative with some tinsel foil door or window curtains or something else shimmery if you’re short on time.{found on ohhappyday}.

Although you don’t want to cover your house with the stuff (or do you?), I think you’re pretty safe adding in a few choice glitter-encrusted bits of cardboard to bring the bling to your New Year’s Eve gala. Like these centerpiece numbers to celebrate the coming year. Display them prominently for maximum celebratory feeling.{found on celebrationsathomeblog}.

Golden, glittering mason jars, anyone? It’s a humble decoration at heart, to be sure, but gold spray paint and glitter-filled insides transform these simple jars into pieces fit for a great gala. I love the idea of placing them in a glass tray of fools’ gold, too. (p.s. Black and gold? Always a win.)

I like this take on the balloon ceiling. Of course, you could cut to the chase and go with gold and/or silver balloons for lots of metallic sparkle and shine, but that has the very high potential of overpowering whatever other décor you’ve got going on down below. A white balloon ceiling with hanging golden ribbons is a great balance of festivity and sparkle without visual assault.

How about hanging an amazingly sparkly Art Deco mobile or piñata above the refreshments table? (If a piñata, though, make sure you relocate it before it spills its spoils!) This one certainly adds height and perfectly New-Year’s-Eve-ish pizzazz to the whole setting.{found on ohjoy}.

Glittery metallic gold and/or silver bunting carries a lot of visual weight for not that much effort (and even less real estate, if you’re short on space). This adds instant drama and shine to a lone wall or makes an inherent focal point a very very festive, well, focal point. Could be created with glitter glued to paper or cardstock and some twine, if you can’t find one for purchase.{found onruffledblog}.

Similar to the metallic garland/bunting but a little more representative of “bubbly” décor, a gold paper chain could easily transform an entire room or a small corner into New Year’s Eve Party Central. This idea is fantastically versatile – it’s a classic, kid-friendly DIY but could also have the luxe look of a sophisticated celebration.{found on rediff}.

Speaking of kid-friendliness, many of us will ring in the new year with our loved ones who are young. Like, toddlers and teenagers and in-betweens. This is a great kid-friendly way to add sparkle to your festivities: use leftover paper plates, some glitter, and rice to create shakers. (But don’t forget the glitter and glue.) These can be displayed in a vase for most of the night and pulled out for the midnight celebration.{found on thecentsiblelife}.
