Having fresh plants in the house is very refreshing. The plants looks beautiful and they don’t require a lot of maintenance. The only inconvenient they could present is the fact that they take up. But if you consider using hanging planters then this problem can easily disappear. You can make your own planters. Here’s how:

Make a tiered hanging planter using some scrap wood, terracotta pots, rope and a metal ring. You’ll use the wood to make squares around the pots. Drill holes in the four corners of each wood square. Then hang them using rope.{found on designsponge}.

This project is extremely simple. All you need is a white bowl, a single embroidery hoop and permanent adhesive glue. Put the glue on the bottom of the bowl, where it meets the hoop, press down and let it dry overnight. Add a plant and that’s all.{found on northstory}.

Here’s another rather simple project. For this one you need cotton rope, embroidery floss in various colors, a metal ring and a closed hook. Cut the rope and thread it through the ring so you have 8 pieces of rope hanging down. Tie it with floss close to the ring. Then tie two lengths of rope together and repeat three more times. For this project you’ll need 4 strips of fabric or ribbon and a metal ring. Fold the strips in half and stick the middle part through the ring. Separate them in four sets of two and knot each of the sets together. Then take one strip from the first set and one from the second and knot them together. Repeat with the remaining strips. Then make another layer. At the end, make a big knot.{found on gleefulthings}.

These tiny planters are very cute and also very fun to make. The materials needed are polymer clay, colored string, a skewer, plants, a baking tray, a rolling pin and baking paper. Make sure the clay is soft then roll it out. Cut a cone shape, roll it and connect the sides. Poke a hole through each side and bake it.{found on frankie}.

If you still have some doilies hidden somewhere, you can finally use them. You’ll also need embroidery floss in various colors. Use the embroidery floss to make colorful rope and attach it to the doilies in four points.

You can also make a shelf on which to display your potted plants. Take a piece of wood, measure the pot and cut a circle of the same size. This way the pot will fit through the hole in the wood. Then make some straps using fabric or leather and hang the planter somewhere.{found on restlessoasis}.

Although a little messy at first, this is a very lovely project once you complete it. The supplies needed are dry moss, potting soil, clay mud, moss, twine or ribbon and a succulent plant. Wash off any soil around the roots and mix together the clay and the potting soil. Add water to the dry moss and wrap it around the roots. Then take the clay mixture and pat it down the root ball. Wrap around the green moss and then wrap the twine or string around it.{found on brit}.

Here’s a lovely ceramic planter which works great both indoors and outdoors. It’s cube-shaped and the exterior is painted in two colors. You can choose any color combination you want. You could make something similar using concrete but you’d have to be careful with the tiny holes for the rope.{found on shipandshape}.

A wine bottle can be repurposed as a hanging planter. You’ll first have to cut off the bottom of the bottle and this is the most difficult part. Then take some twine or cord, tie it tightly around the bottle’s neck and then separate the twine pieces in two sets of two and knot them.{found on instructables}.
