Accent walls help us bring color, texture and beauty into our homes. They break the monotony of monochrome decor and they direct our attention in a way that creates a flattering image of the space or structure. There are many different ways to create an accent wall and some involve using specific materials such as brick for instance.
This applies to both interior and exterior walls. Even then, there are all sorts of different ways to style a brick a wall either by painting it, adding accent lighting, plays with various other contrasting materials and finishes and so on. Let’s check out a few beautiful interior with brick accent walls and see what the strategy was in each case.
This lovely backyard designed by PHOOEY Architects uses reclaimed wood and bricks in a very interesting way. They complement each other and create a patchwork design with a lot of texture and a lot of detail. This little sitting area looks like a really cozy and welcoming space even though it’s made only of wood and bricks.
The brick accent wall inside this lovely open plan living area is the link between the house’s past and present. This is an old house which was recently renovated by THOSE Architects and, as you can see, it’s now bright and modern but still retains a little bit of the original charm. The brick wall is one of the elements which helps to accomplish that.
These brick walls looks gorgeous in the garden, with all the beautiful greenery and the flowers planted alongside them and the tall trees in the background. Bricks in general have a warm look to them and in the context of gardens and patios like this one they really help to create a comfortable and inviting ambiance outdoors. The beautiful landscape was created here by studio Rocco Fiore & Sons.
It’s usually difficult to add many design details to a bathroom or to make it feel like an inviting space. Here, however, studio Crescent Builds achieved that effect by exposing the bricks on the walls. Some of them are damaged and some are barely visible but that’s actually what adds character to this design in the first place.
If you want modern design chances are typical clay bricks are too colorful and too rustic for it. Concrete bricks on the other hand can give you the simple aesthetic you’re looking for while still bringing in a bit of texture and a beautiful and familiar pattern. You can see them being used on this kitchen’s accent wall and island in a home designed by studio SHED.
Here’s another kitchen with a brick accent wall but this time the design is a blend of rustic and industrial influences. The brick is partially covered up but for the most part is shows through all the open shelves and doubles as a backsplash, turning this wall into the focal point of the kitchen. It provides a textured and warm backdrop for all the cold metal elements and industrial-style features. This was a project created in collaboration with Ocala Kitchen and Bath Inc.
There are also ways to bring the beauty and warmth of brick accent walls into modern and contemporary interiors without actually relying on classical bricks. In this stylish bathroom you can see a contemporary interpretation of that in the form of an accent wall with a diagonal brick pattern on it. This in combination with the painted wood floor and the undulating ceiling turn this into a gorgeous space.{found on masonrycenter}.
Going back to industrial design influences, we’re looking here at a bathroom where an exposed brick accent wall is complemented by a white marble shower and a wooden floor. We also have exposed pipes and a large window and together all these elements give the room an eclectic and unique appearance. This is an interior created by studio Jane Kim Design.
Only the upper section of this wall is covered in bricks but that’s enough to give this bathroom a welcoming and cozy feel. The brick stands out by contrasting with the white surfaces around them and their unique pattern and texture are highlighted by the warm light produced by the hanging pendant lamps. This is part of a home designed by The Ransom Company.

It’s a stylish backdrop for the ornate mirror and the clear glass partition allows it to be admired in this entirely without breaking the view. The white walls and ceiling the overall simplicity of the surrounding decor contribute to a very harmonious and balanced design.
