The living room is the heart of every home, where the whole family gathers to spend time together and where guests are entertained. Achieving the perfect design for the living room is no easy task. There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration and color is at the top of the list.

Take into consideration the furniture.

Before you decide on a color to use on your living room walls, take a look around and think of what would look good in combination with your furniture. Since the sofa/ couch is the key piece in the room, you should focus on that.

Brown.

For example, a brown sofa would look nice in a room with neutral-colored walls such as off white or beige. Pure white might be a little too much so try to stay away from it. Other nice shades would be popcorn yellow or lemon yellow if you want to add cheer to the room.

Tan couch.

A tan couch offers you two options: either select a red shade and give the room a bold look or go with a contrasting color for a contemporary look. Turquoise, emerald green, lime yellow or purple are great options.

Beige couch.

If you have a beige couch then there’s a whole range of options to choose from. A darker shade for the walls would be your best choice but you can also opt for bamboo green or dark rust.

The ambiance.

Obviously, depending on the mood you’re trying to create, there are tons of colors to choose from. For a serene and relaxing ambiance, go with pastel colors like peach or white. If you want the room to feel extra warm and cozy you can paint the walls brown. If you like strong contrasts, then choose stripes. The black and white combo is always nice. Then there’s also the option of using a vibrant color like red, orange or green if you want the room to look fresh and energetic.
