The living room is usually the largest room in the house. It has to be because this is where you receive guests, where you entertain them and where the whole family gathers to spend time together and to interact. But even so, some living rooms are spectacularly large.
A large living room with large windows doesn’t really need much artificial lighting
But with size comes responsibility. A living room is not that easy to decorate as you might think. You have lots of space at your disposal and you have to think big and to choose furniture that matches the size of the room. If the sofa is too small then it will look weird. The same goes for the rest of the furniture as well.We have prepared some examples with living rooms that are particularly large and that also have beautiful interiors and we hope they can shed some light on this subject.
In the case of a long but narrow open floor plan you can delimitate different areas
Use the same colors and textures throughout the room to maintain a cohesive décor
Area rugs are great visual boundary-creators in the case of large spaces
Oversized artwork looks wonderful in large rooms and it also makes beautiful focal points
Take advantage of the natural light and the views but maintain privacy as well
Use pattern and color to create a dynamic décor and to maintain cohesion
White walls and flooring will make the room seem even bigger and brighter
For a clean and minimalist décor, opt for built-in features and furniture
Large rooms tend to look beautiful with an industrial-style décor
Double-height ceilings make any space feel larger and floor=to-ceiling windows tend to do the same
Bold colors and contrasts are always welcomed in living room decors
Exposed beams and wooden floors make a room feel warm and inviting
By maintaining a simple décor and a restraint color palette you create a soothing atmosphere
Open space 2nd floor
Still, just because you have a lot of free space doesn’t mean you have to fill it all with furniture. You have to make sure you maintain the openness of the space and that the décor is airy. A large living room needs to have large windows but it also has to have just the right amount of furniture. This will make it feel comfortable without making it seem smaller in any sense.
